I wonder what the cap savings are?

It appears if he didn't take a pay cut and just converted his salary to 3 years it looks like we save about 6 million.

My guess is he got a big bonus, spread out, and a lower base.

We probably just saved 5 million with this move.

Not surprised by this, but, glad they found a way to keep him. Although, he has so surpassed anything you expect out of a 4th round pick, anything more we get out of him is gravy.

I knew he wasn't going anywhere, Payton even said he wasn't going anywhere. Come on, All Pro boarder line HoF players at their position don't just grow on trees

Don't forget that he had that wrist surgery back in January to repair the partially torn tendon he played with all last year. I expect him to back to his previous form this season.

and the rationale was that he was a PK too and would save a roster spot... dreadful

and it would be one thing if that was our worst move hands down, but unfortunately the pot-head in a wedding dress is also part of our draft legacy

He can still get traded! I would not be surprised if he was moved on draft day. I hope not but it's possible.

Good question. We may have our eye on an OL player in the draft and could deal him on draft day. I'm not saying I would trade him but that the option is probably there if the right trade was offered.

Also, the team starts workouts soon I think. There is a better chance of evaluating him before the draft to see if the surgery did the job and he will be back in top form.
