New Orleans Saints most improved team in NFC South, NFL.com says

1. New Orleans Saints:

Why the Saints are marching again: Some of Drew Brees' best years were the ones when New Orleans was also a top-five rushing team. Adding Spiller to the mix alongside Mark Ingram gives the Saints some teeth in the trenches. Max Unger, a perfect center to pair with a cerebral quarterback, should help get their offensive line back on track as well. Add in the fact that New Orleans has two of the first 31 picks in this year's draft, and the panic over the Jimmy Graham trade begins to subside just a little.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

And if Evans is healthy this might be the best line we've had since the Evans/Nicks/Goody(v1) years

Kind of ironic, they were throwing us under the bus a little more than 3 weeks ago...

There's about 20 regulars posting here who know more about the Saints than any of the talking heads on the tele.

We'll miss Jimmy but I think coach already has the next Jimmy

Yeah, and they also said Saints were going to the Super Bowl last season. I can do without their prognostication.

I'm not 100% convinced that we'll miss him.

I think we just spread it out to 4 or 5 weapons instead of 2 or 3.

Pick your poison. We simply went from 2 or 3 poisons to 4 or 5 poisons.

The end result is that we still kill you.

Speaking of Jimmy - he's apparently not winning over this guy.

Michael Bennett of Seattle Seahawks still feels Jimmy Graham overrated

Maybe he'll dirt roll this guy in practice. I still like the kid - except when his play hurts the Saints...

That's how I feel about it too. Not that Jimmy wouldn't make us better if we would still spread it around with him here, but the fact is that we simply didn't do that. So much of our offense was forced on making Jimmy the focal point. I never got why, but now that he's gone I am thinking (and really hoping) we go back to the formula that won us a title.

Agree 100% with both!

We got too caught up trying to get Jimmy involved in the game, throwing to him when he was double covered.

If we spread the weapons out and don't zero in on one target too often, we could see the type of success that 2009 and 2011 gave us on offense.

We still spread the ball around last year, just not as much as before. I think that was because Drew didn't have the time or that horseshoe pocket he's had in previous years. LG is still a question but everything else looks great.

Excuse me, but WTF, does this hack mean by "panic"?!?

Sure there was shock, surprise that the Saints FO showed some brass and made a bold move...

But for this hack to describe the Saints in terms of "panic" confirms to me he's one of Rodge's boys and the same ilk that presented the false case re: bounties.

I'd love to get one of those Malaysian Court Administrators to execute a triple jump caning moves in the n*ts of this writer and explain to him what he's feeling post-strike is panic...

Got us picked to head into the playoffs here:

Quote:

1. New Orleans Saints: A stronger offensive line and a stronger running game mixed with another year of learning under defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. This team's mediocrity a year ago still feels so much like a fluke, and after some simple adjustments, the Saints are a prime candidate to reach the postseason again. Unless the Panthers make some serious strides, or a top quarterback steals the show in Tampa Bay, Drew Brees and Co. have us believing that a refreshed roster can make another run.

Dan Hanzus, on the Around The NFL Podcast, thinks the Saints will go 12-4.
