Schedule released on 4/23

Report: 2015 NFL schedule will be released on April 23 - CBSSports.com

Opener guesses?
I'm going with Carolina or Atlanta.

I predict the Pats will host a team from Penna in the the Thursday opener

Re: Schedule released on 4/23

I'm predicting a curve ball in the schedule, the Saints will open on the road against Tampa...because if Tampa drafts Jameis Winston, the NFL are going to want to make it easy for him and Lovie Smith, and it would benefit Jameis the most to face the Saints' new defense at home early in the season, without any film on him, and before the Saints' new defensive players have had a chance to gel together ... barring injury ,week 1 is probably the weakest the Saints will be defensively and offensively all year, so I think that's when they will give Tampa a crack at us.

I just have a weird feeling or hunch that the divisional schedule is going to be manipulated and tilted this year, to favor Tampa whenever possible -- short weeks for opponents, give them their difficult games at home, scheduling opponents as trap games or during long road stretches against them, etc. In the past, the league has greased the schedule in favor of Atlanta for years, with no results, it hasn't worked, so I think pending the addition of Jameis Winston, this is the year they shift their focus to building up Tampa Bay by giving them the easy breaks.

Calling it now... Our games at Washington and at Philly will be in December. Not that we can't win in the cold or anything like that but you know what the NFL is thinking.

The messed up thing is last season we played better in cold conditions than we did in the dome.

November and December games - Vs Steelers and Bears, we dominated both.

Only reason Saints dominated Steelers was due to using Graham as a decoy. Bears defense just flat out sucked, every team was dominating them so I wouldn't put some stock into either game

The myth the Saints cant win in the cold was put to bed in Philli in the wild card game two years back. Who cares who and when we play. Looking for conspiracies is looking for excuses

I'm not looking for excuses.......and I'm not paranoid. But I do believe in NFL conspiracies. I don't think it's foolish in the least when you look back at our scheduling in the past.

I realize that this would not be easy for them to keep under wraps for long and one of these days it will surface that Godhell is playing favorites.:ubl:

I think we will play the panthers in Carolina again on Thursday night week 2. Carolina will open up with home games first two weeks. Green Bay and Us. That's my prediction. I think we will play Atlanta week 1 in the dome.

Also I think we go to Arizona for SNF mid season and get late Fox game of the weeks against Indy and Dallas. I think we also play giants and lions for MNF.

Re: Schedule released on 4/23

I think we open in philly, but really I have no idea. we should open at home since we opened on the road last year.

in 2009 our game against skins was on the road in dec., and it was cold cause I was there. that year we played the eagles week 2.

out side of 2012, for obvious reasons, in 06 we went to the nfc championship and in 09 sb. I expect a good season

According to NFL-AM we will have the 5th easiest schedule

that doesn't mean anything now, how can they know that before the draft?

Probably because 95% of all players drafted don't contribute enough to make much of a difference.

But you are correct, just going by last years records is a horrible way to judge strength of schedule.

Just in our own division I could see a 7 to 10 game improvement from last years records.

I think ATL, NO and CAR will be 2 to 3 games better than last year and Tampa could be 3 or 4 games better.

We don't play any elite teams this year. We play a few really good ones, (DAL PHL, AZ, DET, IND) and then a bunch of middle of the road teams like HOU, TEN, JAX, NYG, and WAS.

It certainly looks easier than last year's schedule (on paper of course)

I disagree, just look back to 2012 the Colts would of been terrible before they drafted Luck and that year they ended up making the playoffs mainly due to him

But that was just 1 team two years ago, and there are Andrew Lucks in this draft.

Nope, just saying that 1) don't discount the draft, 2) strength of schedule doesn't mean jack squat now

Yep, not now, and not ever. Strength of schedule never means anything. Anything based on prior year's results is inherently wrong. It's not even calculated accurately (division games only count once).

Last year Seattle had 6th 'toughest' and New England the 10th. Of the 4 'easiest', only Indy made the playoffs

Before the salary cap, realignment, parity and Goofdell there were teams that you knew were a W. TB, NO, Indy, NYJ, Arizona come to mind

Things to look for that can hurt/help us...

Prime time games?
3 straight road games?
How many teams play us coming off their bye?
Severe weather games?
Early/late Bye week?
Who do we play after our bye?
Do we have any Monday night to Thursday night game?
Are the short week games at home?
Are the short week games preceded by a home game?

This one killed us last year. Can't remember exactly but I think we played 6 teams coming off of their bye...
