Triplett's Game-by-Game Take...

The New Orleans Saints are a bigger question mark than usual after a 7-9 meltdown and offseason makeover. They still might have the most talent in the NFC South, starting with quarterback Drew Brees. But they have to regain the home dominance that disappeared last season. (They have the NFL’s second-easiest home schedule, based on 2014 winning percentage.)

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 13, at Arizona, 4:05 p.m. ET

This isn’t the easiest way to open the schedule, but the Cardinals won’t be in midseason form yet as quarterback Carson Palmer tries to make it back from a torn ACL and they adjust with some new parts on defense. I’m picturing the Saints slugging out an ugly win, as they did to kick off the 2006 season in Cleveland. Saints 19, Cardinals 17. Record: 1-0

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 20, Tampa Bay, 1 p.m. ET

This could be the first NFL road start for Jameis Winston if the Bucs draft him first overall and hand him the keys. Hopefully for New Orleans’ sake, it goes better than when rookie Robert Griffin III came into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and smoked them in the 2012 season opener. Saints 30, Buccaneers 17. Record: 2-0

Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 27, at Carolina, 1 p.m. ET

The Saints would love to get some revenge over their division rivals, who won the NFC South last year by embarrassing New Orleans in a 41-10 rout in the Superdome in Week 14. But there’s bound to be some bumps in the road at some point, so I’ll pick the first one here as quarterback Cam Newton and running back Jonathan Stewart test the Saints’ run defense. Panthers 27, Saints 23. Record: 2-1

Week 4: Sunday, Oct. 4, Dallas, 8:30 p.m. ET

The Saints are usually awesome in prime-time games in the dome, and I imagine they’ll find a way to get their home “mojo” back this year. But Dallas has become an awfully tough matchup with that dominant offensive line. Two big questions: Who will be the Cowboys’ running back (Adrian Peterson, perhaps)? And will newly-signed pass rusher Greg Hardy be active? Cowboys 30, Saints 23. Record: 2-2

How Stupid Can You Be?

It's a long season and after last year, I'm not even guessing what our record will be.
That would be stupid and I refuse to say or do something stupid.

I will instead make a prediction.

I predict we win the Superbowl.

Blow a team up by turning over 30% of the roster, changeover the coaching and scouting, uncertainty about meshing rookies and younger/inexperienced players, gaping perennial unmet needs in key positions. Hmmm.

0-5 to start, 6-10 finish.

Anything better will be a pleasant surprise.

2016 will be our year.

Always better to exceed lowered expectations... can only go up.

I liked Holders advice better - at least for me. Avoid the pain and agony of projections after last years debacle of a season.

I had forgot (fortunately) how we lost the Dome advantage.

Last 5 Dome Games Last year...ALL L's. Finished 0-5. Last years team didn't earn the FDL on their helmets.

SF
Cinci
Ravens
Panthers
Falcons

ugh...

Yep. Outside of the Panthers beat down, all were winnable games.

Objectively, you described almost verbatim the 2006 season.

14-2

Lose to the Colts on a last second FG and the season finale resting players for the Super Bowl run.

Cincinnati dominated us in the dome last season...

They just flat out lined up and mauled us on both sides of the line...

Losing to the Falcons, in the Dome, not acceptable, even for Payton...

who would have predicted last year's melt down ? ? A loss to Cleveland ? ? 7-9 ?? ? ? Im still pissed, confused, baffled, nervous, anxious, angry, but extremely optomistic . . . We will have Byrd back, Brandon Browner, Vacarro in his normal position, I'm very excited. Ingram, Spiller, Cooks, of course Brees . . . the list goes on and on . . . but please don't come out like last year. That debacle humbled me in a way i can not and will not ever again look at a game and say we got this, especially at home where we USED to dominate . . . Im taking the cliche one week at a time . . . I almost had a damn heart attack last year !! ! WHO DATT ! ! 1

agreed SaintsStunna. predictions are worthless. if last year taught us anything it is to look at things objectively.

Well Greg Hardy wont be playing

Goodell is his wisdom has decided his own investigation means Hardy is suspended 10 games. The man is a joke, well over stepping his job

In hindsight, 80% of our problem was the failure of our #2 CB.

The Champ Bailey signing just didn't work out, and P-Rob and White simply didn't step up.

That combined with the totally unexpected regression of Vaccaro probably cost us 4 to 5 wins.

Had Bailey remotely worked out and Vaccaro not regressed so dramatically, we'd be looking at a 11-5 2014 Saints team easily. That would have given us a home game in the playoffs.

Here's my prediction........all coaches and fans will need a new roster to keep up with all the new additions and number changes.

"Who Dat?! Let me check my roster. I don't know who dat' is. Is he from a small school? I never heard of him before." :bng:
