Ray, Gregory and Collins

Just a thought:

If Ray, Gregory and Collins were still available for our 13, 31 and 2nd round pick I would be very happy if we got all 3.

A lot of talent there. I think coach would find a way to control it and this would solidify a great draft and bright future, if they stayed out of trouble of course.

Id take the risk to be honest. Id be happier if it was Ray-Peters-Collins

We had talent last year too...

Re: Ray, Gregory and Collins

of all the head cases it turns out Marcus Peters, the biggest head case of them all, is the safest pick. he does not have a risk of suspension attacked to him

followed by Josh Shaw

I would draft both of these guys before the rest. Randy Gregory and Shane Ray are off my board based on the level of stupidity the have shown since the season ended. I would pass on them in rounds 1 and 2. maybe round 3

unless the saints know something i do not. 1 year suspensions and still take a cap hit?

Re: Ray, Gregory and Collins

Well there is no certainty anyone will be suspended yet. Peters being thrown of his team may be exactly what he needed.

Collins is difficult as to not take him you are assuming he is guilty when he could easily be cleared next week next week or soend the next 20+ years inside.

My ideal world is trading away from 13 unless Beasley etc fall.

You're right, that can be controlled, but stupid decisions involving year long suspensions is not beneficial to anyone

Peters was a child. I'm thinking he grew up a lot this year. That being said, picking him would be meaningless unless the front seven gets a major talent upgrade first.

If we are gonna draft a player wit character flaws I'd prefer that big ol' WR, that Beckham kid.

hell yeah go with the one that has more than a little of everything attached to him. boy he has not missed any.

actually read an article that it was family and their devotion to him that turned him around, so i kinda like that response. but still.

I agree with you. I rather us just pick guys that are good guys. But you never know, up until yesterday Collins were considered an Eagle scout.

Beckham IMHO has the highest ceiling of all the nutjobs in the draft. A Calvin Johnson type physical talent.

Re: Ray, Gregory and Collins

The issue with DGB is route running. He has hardly any experience of running pro routes
All depends on when he is still on the board for me

Re: Ray, Gregory and Collins

Ray in my book is worthy of #13. He can rush the qb and stop the run. Gregory tackles the RB like Deion Sanders.

I'll be shocked if we take ANY of the ?-able character guys at 13.

I'll be surprised if we take one at 31.

After that, all bets are off...

After this offseason, I doubt the Saints draft anyone with issues

Re: Ray, Gregory and Collins

Randy Gregory would be a poor pick even if he didn't have the off-the-field issues.

Reports say he has struggled to keep weight on, he is only 235. He plays so poorly against the run teams would never pass when he is on the field. How this guy got a top 10 rating is beyond me. I hope someone blows their pick on him in the first, I just hope it's not us.

Between combine and team visits he lost another 6-7 pounds...

Thats my issue with mortgaging too many picks on Beasley. I like him but he struggled with weight in season and pilled it on before combine
If we can get a good deal trading up or sit toll 13 great

Sounding like Collins is falling off the face of the earth on boards. Got to say if he there in round 3 it hot to be worth the risk (a real star) is in our lap

Re: Ray, Gregory and Collins

Collins in the second would be a steal. What a great second round pick that would be. But I doubt he drops that far. I'm not sure how much the Hernandez effect will affect him. Bad bad timing no matter how you look at it.

"La'El Collins agent wants to pull him from the draft, per report"

supplemental draft for him.

I hear from the NFL Network people, that it's not likely to happen...

You know, regarding the marijuana issue... I just read this interesting story about Aaron Hernandez that involves NFL players and weed:

NFL Marijuana Ban Did Not Deter 'Chain-Smoker' Aaron Hernandez - Hartford Courant

Most of us already don't care if players smoke weed... It's the stupidity of getting in trouble for it right before the draft. But me personally, give me Ray or Gregory at 31 all day.
