What have we needed for years? An athletic, speedy linebacker who can cover.

Anthony IS that player. More so than Perryman.

And I'd rather use a high pick on a guy who's responsible for doing more than being a "space eater"....

C'mon fellas, there are a dozen 300+lb guys we can grab in later rounds. There aren't other Stephone Anthonys.

The biggest reason I would have preferred we had Taken Denzel Perryman is the Pure Tackling ability that he has watch the tape on him he don't miss tackle anyone and is a veracious tackler you watch his film when he hits you you don't go any further your down and that's it.

Keep Drew upright for 2 more seconds and EVERYONE is open.

Again, keep Drew upright and those don't happen. For another 2-3 years. And what about building a solid O line for the next guy?

Anthony has the same ability AND covers better. You'll warm up to him quickly. ;)

I am ok with this pick.

I think the key thing he brings to the table is that he is a LEADER!!!

I can't speak about perryman's game, meaning minus what you said here, but Lofton was the same type of tackler, he just blew in coverage, badly

Good athlete, hard worker, leader, smart... yep

You never know what is going to become of draft picks, that's just the way it is, but from what I have seen of him I am optimistic he could be a really good one

Simply not true, your ranting is always asinine, but time will tell if your analysis is worthwhile, and that goes for everyone.

Wow, someone actually said we have all the defense we need? Seriously?

I know right. Absolutely delusional. WE could spend every pick on Defense and still would not be enough

No sense clogging up a good thread responding to this nonsense.

There are several posters I respect that probably would have been fine if we went defense with nearly every one of our picks.

Personally I think an OG and a WR or TE are still in the plans before this draft is over.

Agreed. He has all the traits that say he likely won't be a bust.

Size, Speed, Instinct, Motor, Character, Leader...

Yes, any player can bust, but it sure looks like he has a low bust factor.

I agree with you with the Offense being predictable and stale but I think its more play book there has not been anything new in years and to depentant on jimmy Graham but I disagree with you that the defense isn't the biggest problem this team has

IMO the Saints aren't done drafting defense this year, I'd love Perryman at 44 and wouldn't be surprised if they take an OLB and CB somewhere this year too

Re: Saints select Stephone Anthony @31

sure the kid was a reach. but some where they thought he would not make it to 44. so a reach of some 13 spots at the most is not that bad.

next question if the did this reach is there a player in round 2 they are willing to reach a bit to get because they believe he will not be there in the third? and that is a reason that help make this pick.

day two should be good.

CB and WR round 3 and on IMO unless one falls into your laps in 2 which i doubt.

i may be confused by round 1 but i feel better about the picks than SJB in round 2 last year or Kenny in round one a couple of years back.

So you don't think the addition of Max Unger or CJ Spiller will give drew more time and help us get first downs?

It's a copycat league, Dallas made an O line and went to the divisional game carried by the best rushing game in the league

With the O line we are building Drew should get at least 2 more seconds and the run blocking should be noticeably better.

Not to mention what Seattle's running game has done to that team - nevermind how good their defense is.

I totaolly agree. Phillips on the nose and McKinney or Perryman in at ILB. It shores up the stinking gaping hole in the middle.

The more I read on the guy the more I like him.

I would be excited if we were able to get McKinney as well in the second. One of the third round picks could give us a starter.....the statistics are favorable that at least one of the two third round picks could be a contributor. We might get lucky with one of the other picks but I'm not counting on it. Not after reading about just how poorly we draft lately in the later rounds.

who's the QB getting him the ball??

Re: Saints select Stephone Anthony @31

Anthony is an ideal MILB.

Kendricks, Perryman, and Dawson are better suited for the WILB.

Would not shock me at all if we picked one of them tonight.

Imagine Perryman teamed up with Anthony for the next 10 years.
