Collins@ #44

Defense is still a need but our OL would be set for years. You think that we would have some inside dope on investigation. Got to be some Saints fans on BRPD. Thoughts opinions?

Re: Collins@ #44

I'm not saying we have to take him at 44 but if someone told me that we'd have both Collins and Peat, and filled MLB with our first three picks, my pants would be wet.

Re: Collins@ #44

I doubt anyone is getting inside info this early in the investigation. Also he's not a suspect yet, but hasn't been ruled out either which makes it a risk. However it would definitely be a high value pick at #44. I still think we go DL or LB. According to a lot of reports Collins may be available in later rounds. Picking him up in the 3rd would be a major steal as long as he's available to play.

Then you must have a rainforest in your pants. If we don't select him with #44 it will be with out last pick today in the 3rd. They are really stressing he is not a suspect but that could just be a smoke screen. Coach knows what's going on as I'm sure the police are die hard Saints Fans

Collins should be off the board, if we pick him it better be with 7th rd pick if and only if they get who they are targeting in the the earlier rounds

This guy was the truth at Leesville & LSU.

Truly a shame how it turned out for him :couch:

The investigation could take months to years. From a PR standpoint massive risk without the case being solved and clearing him. Basically a very dark cloud just sitting there and likely will be for a while.

When I was at LSU, he was the most explosive runningback I ever saw in my entire life. To this very day I've never seen anyone more explosive.

If only he could keep his hands from groping the ladies and stay out of bank robberies, he could have been the greatest of all time in the NFL.

Because of that, I doubt anyone will give him a chance. With so many picks, we might be willing to take the chance.

I would in round 3-5.
get the contract sorted so that if this case develops and he is arrested he forfeits any guaranteed money in the deal. Though you waste the pick if this happens you are not on the hook for a cap space.

Id rather take a shot on him than another 2014 mid round selections

If only we could get some re-assurance that it is only to answer some questions.

I would certainly draft him. We could also let him slide a bit to see if we can get some others in to help before him though. I am thinking Third round snag him.

You saw what I saw Halo.
CC had speechless skills with the rock in his hands...What a waste.
The new Collins has baggage we just don't need.

If Payton really wants to ride Drew to another Superbowl then Collins is the pick at 44.

It's possible the police may stand in our way at some point in that Super Bowl run...

This has really got to suck for Collins. Yesterday was supposed to be his day & now there is talk that he could fall out of the draft all together.

I guess I'm more intrigued to his situation since we both are from Baton Rouge and he graduated from Redemptorist and I graduated from Catholic High.

I hope it works out in his favor some how.

Re: Collins@ #44

Now that Collins has no leverage, with not being able to enter the supplemental draft or re-enter the draft next season, now's the time to make a play for him. I don't know about you guys but if I could send our two 5th round picks, or a mid round pick in next year's draft for a 4th rounder, I'd do it and take him. A mid round pick or two for a potential All Pro offensive lineman is worth the risk at this point in the draft.

Okay, I'm gonna play conspiracy theorist...

You think an agent, agency for a rival draft pick kicked a little something to get this Collins-gate thing to reach critical mass on the eve of the draft?!?

Something had to have move things just so for this guy's stock to utterly collapse upon the draft...

Has he made any statements who is the father? I don't think he has to my knowledge. Was he seeing her 8 months ago? Screw this guy, too many unresolved questions.

Re: Collins@ #44

Simple

Tell his agent that you will sign him on a round 2-4 player deal after he speaks to the poice. Just clause the deal with gaurantees only being a year 2 roster bonus. If he is arrested for the incident he forfeits all money in the deal.

Dont think we touch him though

Re: Collins@ #44

I think the writing may be on the wall on this one. No team rolling the dice on a projected middle first round pick leads me to believe this kid may be in some serious trouble.

Re: Collins@ #44

Teams wont take the risk after Hernandez.

I do wonder if the league has privately told everyone to stay away

Foot Stomper 05-02-2015 12:12 PM

Re: Collins@ #44

Collins has NO leverage. Stating that he will re-enter the draft after not going high only means that he WONT be drafted. The only way he can re-enter the draft is IF he gets drafted. BUt since he has given away his position that he would re-enter the draft means NO team will draft him as it means they are throwing away a draft pick. So the only option he will have is to sign a UDFA contract. If I have this wrong or someone sees it different let me know.

Re: Collins@ #44

I hope Mickey contacts him and offers a contract worthy of a middle 1st round pick.

Of course there should be a "convicted of murder" clause snuck in their too.

The best thing to happen for him is an UDFA contract.

Disclaimer: I'm assuming you can sign an UDFA for any amount you want.
