Any word out of Drew???

I'm not finding anything.

Curious what he will say on Grayson selection (expect it to be classy no matter).

Im worried about the same thing. I just feel like he has four more good years left at minimum. The rookie contract will be over by then.

He has demanded a trade to Cleveland

April 1st has passed us by.

He will say all the right things - and he'll probably throw 60 TDs this year to prove he still is the man...

Remember during the season when all of a sudden this report came out that Drew was done after the year was over, then he came out and threw 6 TD's vs Pittsburgh lol.

He has two years left on his current contract; he'll be looking for even more money to sign a new one.

Grayson does well, I see us moving forward with him after two years

This is probably Drew Brees last contract with the Saints, unless it's a retirement contract...

Grayson hasn't taken a snap, I expect Brees is shaking at this point, when camp starts he'll be put on the PUP list!!! LOL!!

Drew will retire a Saint. But this is great insurance just in case Drew goes down or declines more rapidly than we anticipate.

If thats what it takes, then we need to start drafting QB's every year

When the Chargers decided to draft Rivers he told AJ, "this is the worst mistake of your life"

I hope he understands why we picked the kid and embraces teaching and tutoring him to take the mantle when Drew decides to hang it up.

Drew is a fierce competitor so I'm not sold he embraces the pick at all.

Not looking forward to a team that isn't led by Drew Brees, the guy is an absolute legend for what he's done, the team will need to move on at some point but it's hard to picture our team without Brees at the helm.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Drew... But, we all have to admit his time as a player is coming to an end.

His contract ends in two seasons, his production may not warrant the contract he may want to sign a new one. It'd be nice to have a backup plan in place rather than be left out in the cold, that's all I'm sayin'

Completely agree, we have to look to the future soon it's just going to be weird without Brees under centre when it does happen.

u
He is a big boy and knows how football works. He has said it many times. He knows a third round pick isn't going to take his job until he is ready to hang up the cleats.
I think by picking a QB in the third the organization is telling him that he is still the man and will be as long as he wants. Drew is not an idiot, he knows for a team to keep winning they have to prepare for the future.
Drew likes competition and this wont be any different than him competing with any backup.

I dont think he has 4 years. I think he has 2 maybe 3 left with this organization. By then hopefully next in line will be ready.
I promise you Drew wont be in the corner sucking his thumb acting all butt hurt because of this.

You will cry over Drews retirement for exactly 8 weeks if we are 8-0 under the next QB.

I agree. I just don't see Grayson as the guy. This draft didn't have a great quarterback in it. Winston might be the only one who had all the tools, but we all know the story with him.

I am all for having a plan for the future, but to me you need to be all in like the packers drafting Rodgers when they still have a productive Brett Favre. Rodgers sat a couple years, and you can say that helped him learn, but he also had first round talent. Drafting a guy like Grayson and letting him sit is little more of a sure thing to me than the guy we already have in Ryan Griffin. I just don't see it with this guy. But we spent a 3rd rounder on him, so I hope I'm wrong.
