Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Report: Oakland Raiders to release James Jones - NFL.com
He'd be an excellent pick up. 666 yards and 6 TD's last year. He'd also be the antichrist. 31 years old though. Thoughts. Opinions. |
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
I like.

Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Could be a interesting option
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
couldn't hurt to bring him in
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Veteran leadership. Could be deadly in the slot.
Does he come cheap? |
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Pass... too many $. We already have cheaper more hungry versions.
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Take away Cooks and Colston and the rest of the WR have less than 40 receptions between them. A cheap vet may be very very useful for experience and camp alone
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Bring him in.
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
No way will the saints bring him in after trading a cheaper clone (Kenny Stills) & passing up a Sammie Coates with one of the 3rd rd picks. The saints are happy with the depth of wr they have (Jalen Saunders, Seantavius Jones, Brandon Coleman, Joseph Morgan, Andy Tanner, & willie Snead). I'll be surprise if they sign any veteran wr
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
I fully anticipate the Saints to bring in one or two veteran WR's to TC.
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
I'm not confident in anyone but Cooks. Colston had some really bad moments last year.
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
No no no...
- We don't need veteran leadership... we have that already. - We are trying to get younger not older. - it would be a waste of time on a player for a year? Speed drops fast for WR's. |
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Pass, to much $ and there are options already on the team that can produce the same numbers he would for cheaper
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
I definitely think we need to add a veteran WR to the mix. Cooks is barely more than a rookie still. I'd love to see Colston migrate into Graham's old role. Colston has similar size and is losing a step and in my opinion would fit well into that hybrid non-blocking TE role getting LBer or safety matchups. The problem comes that we have no one opposite Cooks that inspires any confidence. Everyone else is extremely raw and can't be counted on yet to efficiently contribute.

Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
It's time for Toon to step it up in 2015.
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
100% bring him or the like in: Welker, Lance, Cribbs, Wayne, whomever can give us 40 catches this year.
A lot have said get younger, plan for the future, etc, but there is a lot to be said for getting a proven guy that can give us one good year. Bottom line, you aren't going to get 6 guys out of your draft who can contribute immediately. I mean, we are not going to sign the next Jerry Rice... unless it's JR jr. Redskins waive Jerry Rice Jr., part with 12 others to make room for draft picks - The Washington Post |
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Dude can run period. Catches deep balls. Anyone could use this guy. What does he cost?
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Jones is a good slot receiver but key drops have dogged him since he was with GB.
But looking at our WRs, James is one of the better options as 3/4 WR we could go after Drew having a 6'1" slot WR might take some time to get use too. |

Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Cooks and Colston are the only proven WRs we have.
Toon? Inconsistent. Healthy scratches. He has the most to prove IMO. Morgan? History is the best indicator of the future.... Jones, Coleman, Saunders.... Camp will be telling. The X factors here are Spiller and Josh Hill. |
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Does Al Davis know about this.
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Just one question: If the Raiders don't want him why would we?
|
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Keep saying, let these young bucks get some reps to develop and see what we have...
If the're not getting it, then go out and get a wide receiver... There's always going to be a Brando Lloyd-type WR out there to sign... |

Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
I'd be surprised to see Jones come to NOLA. But not disappointed if he did.
Moore....I wouldn't be disappointed to see him return either. Vet Minimum. I think its very evident that most receivers can only be as good as their qbs are tho. |
Re: Raiders Planning To Release WR James Jones
Fred Davis just been cleared to return to the NFL.
Think the boat left port long with him though. Infact the boat has hit a iceberg and is half sunk. Shame as he has/had the talent. Vet minimum no guarantee and id give him a camp shot |
