This team will continue to piss away the last few years of Brees as long as Vitt, Johnson and McMahon are still around. Even with the guys added in the draft, I'm not convinced this team is any better than 9-7 this year. I hope they prove me wrong but I just don't see it

Danno - Brees has said more than once about how entertaining Vitt's stories are on road trips and in the locker room

Chris, you don't think working with scouting, evaluating prospects, lobbying for draft picks isn't part of being a position coach in the NFL?

If he's a position coach in the NFL, he's not going to be successful sitting back and waiting for someone to give him talent...

we all know the pre draft scouting in the past 4 or 5 years have not been all that great. one or two gems can not cover that fact up.

The scariest part about Vitt being the lb. coach is him being the assistant head coach. We all know how that trajesty would be!! There are way better lb. coaches out there and why Payton hasn't chanced over to them is crazy.Vitt is mediocre at best, kind of like just showing up but no real contrabution. As far as talent goes a coach at any position gets the best out of their players. I think he better be able to get this group together or eyes up top will be looking hard at him.

James Willis? Yep, I would agree with you. I know he is licking his chops at the opportunity to coach our young stud in the making (Stephone Anthony).

Stud(s)...Don't Forget Hau'oli Kikaha and Davis Tull...

And, just maybe last year's addition Ronald Powell could blossom...

Wouldn't have minded bringing in Scott Shanle, but...

Here is the bio excerpt from New Orleans Saints Announce 2015 Coaching Staff Additions

(James) Willis, who enjoyed a seven-year NFL playing career with three teams is a 14-year coaching veteran who joins the Saints after spending the past two seasons as defensive coordinator/inside linebackers coach at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Willis molded the Ragin’ Cajuns into one of the top defensive units in the Sun Belt Conference as they captured two consecutive R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowls. Willis, who spent two years as defensive coordinator with the Virginia Destroyers in the United Football League, was the defensive coordinator at Texas Tech in 2010 and was associate head coach/linebackers coach at Alabama in 2009 as the Crimson Tide won the national championship in a 14-0 season and All-American Rolondo McClain claimed the Butkus Award. Prior to his stint in Tuscaloosa, Willis tutored linebackers at Auburn (2006-08), Temple (2005) and Rhode Island (2004-05). He started his coaching career as a student assistant at his alma mater, Auburn, in 2001 as a student assistant, serving as a defensive graduate assistant in 2003. The Huntsville, Ala. native spent seven seasons in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers (1993-94), Philadelphia Eagles (1995-98) and Seattle Seahawks (1999). His playing career concluded in 2001 with the Birmingham Thunderbolts of the XFL where he was the league’s defensive MVP...

So we shall see if bringing in another LB coach works out...

Calling that "lackluster" is a bit of a stretch. It isn't a unit that will take a major overhaul to fix.

with a less than stellar oline...

Sorry it took me so so long to get back. As for your statement, I disagree. I think Casillas is a pretty good weak side LB. He would have played a lot more if he hadn't always been hurt. That more than anything is what has held him back. As for Dunbar, I think he's a better suited to play on the strong side than in the middle.
