As mentioned in another thread it's a tough year to make the team as a LB'er FA.

Actually we're thin on bodies at Inside Linebacker for camp...

Coley is a tough case to scout, project...

While the measurables as far as size are there...

The combine type numbers are not there...

But he was a playmaker in college, can he transition that game to the faster NFL?!?

Alot of Virginia guys got overlooked because of their awful record, lack of success...

Either way, welcome aboard, happy hunting!

keep an eye on the kid. i was kinda surprised a team did not take a late round flyer on the kid. I watched a few Virgina games and the kid seems to have that knack of being in the right place at the right time.

I think he plays faster than he times and he did come in a shorter than expected at 6011 not near the 6020.

never know

I bet he does. Running full speed in spandex at the combine is wastly different from doing it in pads. Sounds like an interesting signing. I don't think any of the LBs still on the roster from last year should feel safe in their positions.

Henry Coley

Position: 4-3 Mike Linebacker

Breakdown:

The hard-hitting thumper was Virginia’s mike-linebacker his junior and senior seasons, taking over the position after Steve Greer’s graduation. He earned Second-Team All-ACC honors in 2014 after his eight-sack performance.

Coley provided consistent play against the run and as a pass-rusher, but the Bayside High School product struggled in pass coverage. At the end of the season, he did not play in nickel situations.

Coley — who measured in at 6-1 and 239 pounds on Monday — cranked out 23 repetitions on the bench press at Virginia’s pro-day.

The former Virginia captain could provide a steady presence as a two-down linebacker. Unfortunately, though, as NFL teams continue to use more nickel looks, Coley’s opportunities could be limited.

His path onto an NFL roster involves continued excellence against the run and superb special teams play _ much like Virginia alum and current Jacksonville Jaguar LaRoy Reynolds demonstrated in his draft experience two seasons ago.

Projection: undrafted

So him and Anthony in on first and second down and then only Anthony on 3rd. I'd take it :-D

Well, what you could do is have Anthony drop into coverage and send the other LB on blitzes, stunts or as a spy on those sneaky qbs like Rodgers...
