Poor ole Andy Tanner......

New Orleans Saints signed guard Mike McGlynn, released WR Andy Tanner - New Orleans Saints Blog - ESPN

Another guard in the mix.

Andy Tanner's made more money being waived and resigned by the Saints than I'll make in my lifetime. I have no sympathy for the dude.

Re: Poor ole Andy Tanner......

From what I've read on McGlynn, he isn't very good at the guard position.

Re: Poor ole Andy Tanner......

I've read the same but he helped one hell of a running back run for over 1500 yards 2 years in a row. What could it hurt?

I don't feel bad for Tanner at all, if he was any good then he would of made the roster

He actually did make the roster, once. Bash on him all you want but you can't take that away from him. He made it. If not for his injury he would have also played, I firmly believe he had the talent but the stars just would not line up all the way. No way Payton would have him swinging in and out the door like that if he sucked.

I wished he could have made it on the field though, many things in life can't be measured and I think he had that element to him.

Things may not have worked out for him the way he wanted...

But for his work, effort and dedication, well...

It may not be over for Tanner, seriously, what are the chances of him getting picked up by another team? The Saints probably just needed the roster spot for right now. I believe he has a legitimate shot at making the opening day roster this season.

Ranked last in the league. Seriously, why would we even sign a guy like that?

Because it's May. We need bodies in camp. And there isn't much else out there we can afford.

I don't believe he has any shot of making the opening day or any other day's roster.

Saints need offensive lineman in the second half of preseason games after the starters get pulled

Re: Poor ole Andy Tanner......

sorry just never saw it with Tanner, IMO he was one of those guys that showed a little bit of talent in the preseason so everyone jumped on his bandwagon so they could be right if just IF he actually did something in a regular season game so they could say "Look I told you so"

Re: Poor ole Andy Tanner......

I still say Preston Parker outshined Tanner that preseason.

My guess is he'll be back for at least one more run.

I liked Tanner, at least what I saw.
Tanner has excellent hands.
Only remember one drop that hit his hands.
Light in the pants and a step slower than his competition.
He was "OK' doing all the things asked of him.
Just didn't bring anything glaringly better to create his own niche.
Not big like Colston, not quick like Moore/Stills/Sproles, not fast like Henderson/Morgan.
Just could never play his way to the front row.

Re: Poor ole Andy Tanner......

I know some people got tired of seeing Tanner on the PS and such. To me he was the New Orleans Saints version of "Rudy".

I would've liked for him to see the field even if it was on special teams.

I don't feel sorry for him. But I do respect him. With so many NFL bums out there, this above average athlete stuck around a long time. That takes some serious heart. Respect to Tanner from me.

Don't feel too sorry for him. He isn't going anywhere.

Can he now qualify for NFL retirement since he's been on/off the roster for ten years already?

This guy probably has some dirty pictures of Payton. lol

Heck yeah. I'm good with him sticking around.

Re: Poor ole Andy Tanner......

I always wonder how Wes Welker is PHYSICALLY better than Tanner. They look pretty similar. I assume Welker is at least quicker and probably has bigger hands. I bet most great NFL WRs have oversized hands.

zero
teams have had 6 years to bring him in, and not one has even tried him out
the fact that we put him IR this early says we feel we owe him something

Re: Poor ole Andy Tanner......

Tanner might just end up being a coach for us when all is said and done. there is a reason they keep pumping money into to his pocket more than once year after year. maybe he did a skin flick with Rita. that night be at the heart of this battle. now wouldn't that be an interesting twist.
