Cancer on and off the field? So there's no way his teammates would vote him to be a captain right?

exactly
He makes one statement about the 2010 defense and the media blows it out of proportion, and that's all some people remember

Is he a cancer in the locker room? I know he had some off the field issues but I forgot what he may have done to piss team mates off. yea he said a few things about old team mates but when did that become such a big deal?

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

Losing Galette for any length of time is not a good thing for the defense. Can it be overcome? Possibly. However, the defense would have been a surer thing with Galette than without him. We need to hope that the injury does not require surgery.

"Don't sleep on..." "Cancer in the locker room..."

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

Payton considered cutting him early this off-season after they were unable to trade him...

Loomis contract with Galette was definitely premature...

That said, we had a good draft and free agent addition that, at the least, could rotate and find matchups that will be more than effective...

I'm not sweating this also because early in these OTAs it was reported that his role was going to be specific to pass rush situations...

Losing some depth may be a concern, but you can only keep four OLBers anyways with NFL roster limits...

Beastmode 06-07-2015 09:05 AM

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

How are we any worse without him. We were the worse defense on the field. I also recall him running his mouth about going up against a rookie. That didn't work out at all. He does bring a lot of intensity but skill alone, maybe slightly better than average. Where it really hurts is depth. If the defense is going to get better have to have it.

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

If he was our leader he did a poor job of it last year. No leader lets that crap happen. People forget Browner is our new locker room enforcer. Also, Ellerbe as well has veteran leadership experience.

So because he's voted a captain that makes it right???? Its a reason management wanted him traded this offseason...if it wasnt for that big contract he'd be gone right now.

saintsfan1976 06-08-2015 06:43 AM

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

Locker room cancer
Contract too big
Tried to trade....

....Lost of speculation fellas. But it's just that. Listen, this kid busted his rear to become a starter (remember all rooting for him?)

He may be more of a situational player but he's a good one. And not his fault we had zero depth behind him!

I say put him on IR and forget about him this season. Saints don't need him that badly.

That "team captain" title for Junior is quickly headed down the gutter

Danno 06-08-2015 10:05 AM

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

Put him on special teams cover units, punt and kick.

Every time he shows his stupidity, make everyone do 100 push-ups and run gassers while Junior watches.

The team will correct this little problem

Expect Stephone Anthony to step up in these situations once he proves he can get it done on the field...

cutting or trading him would have cost us $10.75 million this year. Considering where we are against the cap, there was no way that was going to happen.
There are 'reports' that we shopped him, but nothing was substantiated, just as nothing was confirmed on the 'locker room cancer'.

This should be in it's own thread. (mod please)

I previously would have defended JR, but this is too much. He clearly is taking a stab at Payton and bragging about his contract. IR his ass for the rest of his contract. You can cross the stupid line once but twice, you might as well just stay there.

Dumb*** with a pocket full of money. Sooner or later something Hernandez serious is going to happen with him. Put him on IR and tell him to clean out his locker. Good luck and don't let the door hit ya.

This looks bad on the surface. When was the video taken?

Jr Gallete and Cam Jordan are both live wires who talk too much rather than let their play on the field speak for themselves

I recall a game from 2013 where Cam was live mic'd

bragging about the Super Bowl baby and all that flash

pretty embarrassing

I hope some on field leadership from the veterans reigns them in

Cam seems much more subdued. Everyone talks on the field but off the field cam seems much more composed.

We were probably going to have to put Tull on IR. Now it looks like we will need him in the rotation where he will get seasoning early and often. This could be addition by subtraction.

That's my favorite type of addition.

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

In retrospect, signing Galete to that big contract was a colossal mistake.

It's gets old hearing/reading negative stories about this clown OFF the field. I'm probably in the minority but I don't even care if he suits up in the black and gold moving forward. I would hate for his actions to rub off on our younger group of talented guys.

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

2014 - Team Captain of the worst NFL Defense
2/4/14 – Galette speaks out on his teammates
1/5/15 – Galette arrested and booked
1/10/15 – Galette deletes Twitter account
1/12/15 – 3 bags of marijuana in Galette’s car
6/08/15 - Mr T video dissing Payton

No chance he sees the field injury or no injury.

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

Plan was to lie low since I'm back from vacation then Junyah had to open his stupid yapper. Dude STFU already and pray Payton doesn't ship your ass to Tennessee, Oakland or Jacksonville. So tired of him running his mouth without the production to back it up and this video is the final nail in the coffin for me because at one time I was one of his biggest supporters but like Biggie said "mo money mo problems" espically when you are a me first team second guy

Why drag Cam into this. Cam behaves light years better than Galette and actually acts like a grown up. Galette acts like a 2y/o whose mother took his pacifier away from him.

How the hell did I miss this?? Seriously, I had to Google it and read the story. I never miss any news so that's really weird.

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

In 2013 Galette signed a 3 year/$7.5 million deal. Then he has a breakout season and even though he had two years left on that deal Loomis decides to offer him a new contract which ended up making him virtually unable to be cut.

Point is, how nice would it have been to stick to that 2013 contract? We could cut him with probably very little cap hit.

Audiotom 06-08-2015 06:02 PM

And he also could have walked to another squad for big money

And this is the guy I've been getting blasted for....because I think he's a cancer....This video isnt okay...If he played for New England or Pittsburgh he would have been cut as soon as this video surfaced....This guy was hungry but as soon as he got recognition he got too arrogant....We need productivity not drama.

He wouldn't be cut if the team was on the hook for $12 million

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

And like it or not, there's not enough evidence in this video to cut Galette.

Beastmode 06-09-2015 10:50 PM

Re: Galette injured, could require surgery

There is a clear body of work he created off the field to cut him right now. His agent has also said nothing about his injury. Not even general PR about staying positive.

The comments about former players? I'm sure in his own way he was trying to build up his current teammates. If anything it was a poor choice of words.

The woman? She was crazy and it was dismissed. If anything he hangs around the wrong people.

The weed? It was his friend's. No charges. He's never failed a drug test. If anything he hangs around the wrong people.

The video? Who the hell really knows what they were talking about. If anything he hangs around the wrong people.

See a pattern? Yep, it happens with most young guys who come from nothing and become overnight millionaires. Should he grow up? YES. Should he be cut? No. Not yet, anyway...
