Dynamic Saints WR Brandin Cooks actually expects to play faster in Year 2
1 Attachment(s)
METAIRIE, La. -- Brandin Cooks is back where he belongs -- “flying around the field,” as he put it -- during the New Orleans Saints' OTA practices.
The second-year receiver might be the most exciting and important playmaker for a Saints offense that traded away top receiving targets Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills in the offseason. Not to put too much pressure on a still-21-year-old kid who has only 10 career games under his belt. But the dynamic, 5-foot-10, 189-pound speedster sure looks primed to become the Saints' No. 1 receiver this year. big part of our lack luster offense last year. we need Brandon as a huge factor in the line up. a guy hard to cover, quick toss from brees to him as an escape route for yards and keeping the chains moving. nobody should cover this guy, separation specialist. its what we grabbed him for anyway.
and most of all stay healthy. |

I love Brandon
it's a shame he injured his thumb on the last meaningless drive of the lackluster Bengals home game. much better than a knee glad to hear he is working out with Drew in San Diego When Drew had protection he was hitting Cooks deep in stride Brandon has incredible hands, just needs to shuck defenders trying to jam him at the line |

It's good to hear a Saints receiver referred to as dynamic. I love to see that Drew and he are working on their timing.

Makes sense... More familiarity with the system equals less thinking. Can't wait to see him really get loose and unencumbered by the mental aspect of our offense.

throw the ball down field to Cook and that will help. last year he was a gadget player. bubble left and bubble right. drove me nuts. hopefully the signing of CJ will take a bulk of those plays away from him.
with his speed and quickness? he needs to get behind the LB and in front of the safeties. then let him do his damage. we all know he can do the streak he can wear out an entire second level of defense by the fourth all by himself Freaking Speedy Gonzales. Arriba, Arriba! Andale, Andale! |

Re: Dynamic Saints WR Brandin Cooks actually expects to play faster in Year 2
“It’s very exciting to be back, I’m happy to be out there with my teammates, flying around out there on the field,” he said. “(I’m) definitely ahead of where I was last year, mentally, knowing my plays and having that true confidence out there when I’m running around.
“Not finishing the season like that, there’s definitely that thought of having unfinished business. So I’m just excited to be back out there and trying to stay healthy as much as I can, so I can fly around come Week 1.” It’ll help that he’s healthy and, perhaps as much, that his touches are almost guaranteed to increase. With the top two receivers from last season – tight end Jimmy Graham and receiver Kenny Stills – gone to Seattle and Miami via offseason trades, respectively, Cooks’ role in the offense is expected to expand. “It’s going to be interesting to see how they use me, how they use all of us,” he said. “No matter what, I know they’re going to use us in the right way and to our strengths.” “He’s part of the package, he’s part of what we do,” Payton said. “Certainly, he’ll probably get more snaps. When he got hurt, it was kind of incomplete. I think you’ll see a player who’s healthy, in his second year, (and has) got a lot of knowledge of what we’re doing. I think he’s looking forward to having a good season.” John DeShazier: Brandin Cooks ready to blaze new trail in second season |

He'll probably be covered by Patrick Peterson in our first game... So yeah hopfully he's ready to ball.
