Saints add former Jets pro personnel director Brendan Prophett as scout
 

The New Orleans Saints have a new addition to their front office.

According to Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate, the Saints have hired former New York Jets director of pro personnel Brendan Prophett to serve as a college scout.

Prophett spent 15 seasons working for the Jets with the last eight in the pro personnel director role. Prophett was let go following the conclusion of the NFL Draft last month. He also served as the assistant director of pro scouting, a pro scout, a regional scout, and as a college scouting assistant during his Jets tenure.

over the years i have come to respect the Jets drafting and personnel moves. defensively the front 7 is always solid. Offensively the OL is also solid. as long as he worked in these areas I like the move.

Now if he is the one that pushed for all the glamor picks ie any of the backfields on either side of the ball i would ponder this move. but the glamor picks are usually out of these guys hands.

I think a lot of hires are made from referrals.

Calvin Pryor (1R), Dexter McDougle (3R), QB Tajh Boyd (Actually spent a draft pick on the worst QB prospect in the last ten years), Dee Milliner (Benched 3 Xs, Injured Reserve next year), WR Stephen Hill...

The only thing that saved the Saints from having outright awful draft classes was teams like the Jets actually stinking it up more...

Other than there defensive linemen of late (which even the Jets couldn't screw up picking in the top of the draft every year) I've really enjoyed the schadenfreude of watching Sexy Rexy the Toe Job King show how totally enept a franchise the New York Jets are...

And I'd like to know if he was, point-of-fact, the guy that had the Jets take Revis which fell into their laps as Lawrence Williams had...

Even the Jets couldn't miss that easy one. I hope he has something positive on his resume' aside from that. Not that one scout makes all the difference, but you know. Takes all the pieces to put the puzzle together, rah rah, insert other cliche'.
