Saints' Kenny Phillips hoping to revive career in New Orleans
I hope he makes the team.
"This is part of the game, unfortunately, and it's the route I had to take," Phillips said. "I'm thankful to be here with the Saints. They have a great secondary, guys that can really play. They have questions and I tell them basically what I know and vice versa, because I haven't been around the game in two years. Saints' Kenny Phillips hoping to revive career in New Orleans |

His confidence has definitely been shaken...
He's a tremendous talent and I hope he can regain form, resurrect his career... |

If Kenny's knee is healthy, this might be another sneaky good signing.

Re: Saints' Kenny Phillips hoping to revive career in New Orleans
every year we roll the dice on IR players
Kenny Phillips has to be one of the more interesting pickups in recent memory. It is a gamble but if that knee holds up he could make KV a mute issue at the SS position. letting the saints use KV at what he does best, be a pest. I know he is listed as a FS but he is excellent in run support and open field tackling. that's why safeties like Deone Bucannon in 2014 always catch my eye. 2016 looks to be a solid year at safety in the draft but if he can stay on the field he could make that a mute issue also just like KV. Once again, "IF" he can bounce back, he is the modern definition of what a SS should be in this pass happy NFL. A free safety with size and speed that excels in tackling. he was a man ahead of his time for the NFL. fingers crossed and if all goes well this could be the FA steal of the year in the NFL and he can be the type of SS that will maximize the investment we made in Byrd. I hate to get my hopes up |

Re: Saints' Kenny Phillips hoping to revive career in New Orleans
Look at his competition..
Vaccaro Byrd Bush Warren Sunseri Sanford We should keep 5, but maybe only 4 if we keep 6 CB's. Keep in mind we may have to keep and extra DE/LB or two due to Galette's injury. |

I wasn't surprised to see Sunseri go on IR last year knowing how Payton thinks. This year he will have a feel for the system and could show us he's worth a roster spot in a crowded field. |

He can be a playermaker (something we lacked badly last year) but I won't hold my breath on Vacarro. His overall technique & tackling skills have been a huge disappointment thus far. Maybe Allen can coach him up. Edit: To your point RSaint, Kenny P is talented & has proven ability to move up the depth chart. I thought he would be as good as Sean Taylor coming out of Miami. Those injuries though... |

Either he beats someone out or he is dropped. No loss and only possible gain
