Saints signed DT Kevin Williams to a one year contract.
 

The New Orleans Saints have signed veteran defensive tackle Kevin Williams, the team announced Friday.

Williams, who turns 35 in August, had visited the team last month. He was a six-time Pro Bowler with the Minnesota Vikings before spending last season with the Seattle Seahawks.

Williams has 63 career sacks in 12 seasons, including three last year. The 6-foot-5, 311-pounder spent most of his career as a three-technique tackle in Minnesota's 4-3 defense, but he ended up starting the final 10 games at nose tackle for Seattle last season, including the playoffs, after starter Brandon Mebane went down with a torn hamstring. Williams accepted the challenge and was a force inside for the Seahawks down the stretch.

the news of this signing brings back that blurp about the saint line up in a 43 defense during OTA.

Always like Williams, even at 75% of what he use to be he is better than 75% of the DT in the NFL.

Correct me if I'm wrong but won't cutting players like Kenny Philips, Tim Hightower, Mike Golic, Toben Oprum save us money?

I think they only count the top 52 toward the salary cap right now. Those guys may not even make a difference in the top 52 total.

2014 passing yards = 4,764. 3rd in the league

Defense
2014 rushing yards = 2,125. 29th in the league

Do you think we still need WR's?

And don't talk to me about Jimmy Graham. Brees has been a perennial top 3 QB with 5 dozen different WR's, TE's, RB's, FB's...basketball players, you name it.

We can have Jerry Rice and it won't matter if the defense can't get off the field.

Yes it is interesting however I do think Bunkley could be on the bubble for the black and gold.
