NO surgery required for Junior Galette
1 Attachment(s)
At least that's some good news!!
Saints pass-rusher Junior Galette suffered a pectoral injury while lifting weights earlier this month, and the fear early in the process was that the injury was significant. The outside linebacker and team can both now let out a sigh of relief. New Orleans' top defensive player last season learned he won't need surgery after meeting with Dr. James Andrews, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday, per a source informed of the situation. Galette, 27, will heal with just rest and rehab, and may actually be ready for the season opener while almost certainly starting camp on the PUP list, Rapoport reported. One source told Rapoport "(Galette's) going to be fine." Galette signed a four-year, $41.5 million contract extension last offseason and was a formidable force in Rob Ryan's defensive outfit, leading the team with 10 sacks. Considering pectoral surgery usually sidelines a player five-to-six months, Galette and the Saints survived a scare, and they can now focus again on bouncing back from a disappointing 2014 campaign. Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
Good news, 10+ sacks last two seasons, could use that again

Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
That's very good to hear - anyone claiming the Saints would be better off without him are delusional.

Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
Good for him.
Just don't poison the young guys in the locker room. |
Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
Damn, I was hoping he'd have surgery to have his mouth sewn shut for the season.
But good news nonetheless. We're a better team with him than without him. I wonder how long it will take to be back to 100% strength wise? |

Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
good i hope he can get off the field a more and get some rest this year speed rush.
lack of a rotation has been killing the front 7 |
Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
but any word to if they stitched his mouth shut?
|
Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
Our front 7 should be able to bring it this year.

Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
Great news.

Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
There is the concern he could start out rusted and if we want to sb caliber Arizona is a place we need to send a statement. We can't just wait for week 2. Our first four games are the toughest.

Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
I, for one, was looking forward to moving to a true 3-4 front and letting these younger, faster, stronger players create not only pressures, but sacks and forced fumbles in backfields...
Between Galette's off-field shenanigans and his low ceiling as a player (why Loomis prematurely extended him is still baffling), i'm ready to move on and believe we have both better talent and depth on the team... |
Re: NO surgery required for Junior Galette
Anthony Spencer will be starting anyway and Galette/Kikaha will rotate in on passing downs.
