Saints RB C.J. Spiller making fast impression on new team

1 Attachment(s)
METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints' newest dynamic weapon, running back C.J. Spiller, busted free behind the defense around midfield during a practice last week. It wasn't the first time, and it won't be the last.

But this particular play stood out because Spiller seemed to almost be toying with the defense as he cruised toward the end zone. He appeared to be running only about three-quarters speed as a trio of defenders gave chase. But as he turned to look back at them, he sped up just enough to make sure they couldn't catch up.

"That wasn't top speed. But I was looking back at 'em, lettin' em know, 'You might want to stop running.' That was a TD," Spiller said with a grin. "But that was just a little glimpse of hopefully what's to come this season."

Fans will get their first glimpse of the 2015 Saints during today's veteran minicamp opener. And the bet here is that Spiller is the player who will turn the most heads.

Stay healthy and you should enjoy career numbers.

I would be VERY happy but that is very doubtful. in 2012 he ran the ball 207 times for 1250 yards and 6 tds.

I do have one concern... Our offense became so predictable that last season we had Darren Sproles that most of us were fed up with trying to get him the ball all the time. Defenses knew it was coming and started shutting Sproles down with ease. I just worry that we're not adding anything new with Spiller because defenses have figured out how to stop the finesse stuff that we do.

so true. then cook took Sproles job and the defenses had little adjustments to do.

Now Cook and CJ on the field at the same time should cause issues and open up some other players.

the real question in my book can CJ do both Sproles job and PT job?

blitz pick up is my number concern at RB.

#2 can Ingram prove he can stay as healthy as he did last year or was that a fluke and the injury bug will return. By Ingrams standard last year was injury free. If he goes down will be right back to where we were before.

who will step up as a back up? hope and pray

The "bold" text is what bothers me. This is hinting to me, that our defense still blows donkey sacks.

I wouldnät worry too much about it. There are probably less than 10 defenders in the leauge that can chase down Spiller from behind.

Hard to cover them but you also give up durability having smaller weapons.
Really need to coach up going down. Get the 1st and move on, no need to be a hero. If people want to bash them for it go right ahead. The Kurt Warner Rams offense, they would always go down. Save that stuff for the playoffs.
