New Orleans Saints CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste: Dennis Allen 'makes everything much easier'

...Much has been made of simplifying the Saints defense this season and that's another reason Jean-Baptiste is starting to come around. Some of that has to do with senior defensive assistant Dennis Allen.

"DA is a black-and-white guy; he likes everything detailed," Jean-Baptiste said. "He likes everything straight up. He makes everything much easier."

Jean-Baptiste, a second-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, could be in a fight for a roster spot when training camp rolls around.

The Saints have nine cornerbacks listed on the roster with five new faces – Brandon Browner, Kyle Wilson, Delvin Breaux and draft picks P.J. Williams and Damian Swann...

...The competition for a roster spot is something Jean-Baptiste said he can't concern himself with; instead he's trying to focus on getting better every day.

"That's something that you can't get caught up on," he said. "If you get caught up into it, you just get to thinking and then you won't go out there and play fast. You just have to go out there and compete every day and trust in your ability and things will show up."

Doesn't look good on Ryan's part; Oakland was absolutely stupid to cut things short with Allen...

I'm thinking Dennis Allen will become our DC before too long, and I think most of you guys probably feel it as well.

And I think when Payton hangs it up Allen will become our HC.

He is gonna make the squad... Swann will probably be developmental.... Wilson will end up being cut, Breaux, PJ Williams, and SJB will join Keenan, and Browner and round out the DBs we keep.

I don't agree. Allen will have another shot a HC somewhere else before Payton leaves. But, you may be right in that he could return sometime far down the road when Payton retires.

I kind of felt like that was why he was brought in... but who knows, maybe him and Rob keep at it, but yeah I felt he was brought in to take over for rob or if RR D struggled.

If there is anyone who will get SJB to elevate his game & maximize his potential, it will be Allen.

When I do the math this is what I come up with too. Our nickel and dime packages will be much more effective this year. Breaux and Browner.......it has a nice ring to it.

Rob should be locked in a closet to dream up his whacked out schemes and DA should be doing what he is doing. TEACHING. that is what a coach does.

If he hangs around that long.

Not that I didn't love the P J Williams pick in the third, but this is why I felt Patrick Robinson should have stayed and possibly had his dumpster-fire of a career salvaged by Dennis Allen...
