Broderick Bunkley Released
Interesting move... Thought he would be pretty important piece of the puzzle. |
Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
Perhaps he came to camp a "little" overweight?
|
Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
Bleacher Report said he failed a physical.
Colston and Byrd on the PUP. |

Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
We can always resign him if he gets healthy.

Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
Galette, Stills, Meachem, PT, Graham X2 , Grubbs, Goodwin, Walker, Lofton, Bunkley, Knox, Ball, Robinson, White, Deaderick
That’s a lot of turnover. |
Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
Good thing we signed big cat Williams.
Byrd being on any PUP list worries me. Even if it's only precautionary. |
Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
How failing the physical works I am not to sure But
2015 $3,475,000 Dead 2016 $6,112,500 Cap Hit $1,612,500 Dead money 4.5 mill in cap space added Would be sweet if voided more of the contract |

Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
Not good news John Jenkins needs to step up and be the man. We had better hope Kevin Williams has another season in the tank.
|
Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
Byrd might just cost Mickey his job after Gallette debacle . If Bryd doesn't live up to his mega deal the FO has laid several big eggs. We are definitely in the market for a DT. Davidson chance of making the squad got easier and Kaleb Euls might find a roster spot now. Wasn't expecting this one

Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
It may be just a precaution but I really wanted to see Byrd without any issues this season, even in camp, so he could show the fans what he can really do for this team. Hopefully that will still be the case but it is a worry to see his name on the PUP list already! As the saying goes "watch this space"!

Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
I like a healthy Jenkins over Bunkley anyway.
PUP at this point? I wouldn't be too worried. All could come off PUP tomorrow. |
Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
Darn it! I always hate when it is injuries that make us cut a guy. I like it much more when a guy plays better and takes the spot instead.

That means Jenkins has to become a 2/3 snap guy and stay healthy. Hicks can slide over but I like him better at DE. And as Papa VooDoo said, Bunkley might be available later if necessary. I hope Davison, Virgil or Richardson can surprise some folks. |
Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
This is a shocker to me. Either the young kids are playing some ball or the 92 yr old Williams came in and blew everyone away. What scares me is all these moves and we still will not have any cap room next year because of dead money. 2017 we will have Cleveland Browns type of cap money.

Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
IF Bunkley was resigned - would the contract need to be renegotiated?
Hmmm.... |

Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
If I had access to Sean Payton's phone, I believe Bunkleys # is on speed dial. This guy will be back w/the Saints sooner rather than later.

Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
Wonder if him not being healthy is the reason Sheldon looked so good in the draft.

Coach released him to light a fire under his ass to get in shape and to focus. I trust he will be back in the fold.

Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
Would not be surprised to see him back but they need the spot during Training camp.

Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
Bunkley, who went on injured reserve last season with a quad issue, was unable to practice at all this summer, and Payton said the timetable for his rehab was longer than the Saints could afford to wait.
"It had nothing to do with we're going to move on," Payton said. "We just felt like, at the time, there still was quite a bit of work to be done with him and the rehab process. I would say that we were pulling for him as much as anything ... because he does have a presence and he's so well respected." The Saints waited as long as they could before releasing him, hoping the injury would get better. "He's a guy we were really pulling for from a health standpoint," Payton said. "He's still has a little bit of time with his rehab, and so we had a long visit the other day. I think the world of him." But if Bunkley could eventually get healthy, Payton wouldn't say no to a reunion. "Absolutely," Payton said. "In fact when we spoke, we spoke about in a week and a half, him coming up for a day and just speaking to guys and spending some time with our team. But that would be fair." |
Re: Broderick Bunkley Released
I'm not understanding why we will take a cap hit for next year. I thought all guaranteed money was paid this year and the books are cleared.
