Fire within Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro appears re-ignited
 

Nothing about the 2014 season shaped up like New Orleans Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro envisioned.

Vaccaro, like fellow University of Texas football alum and All-Pro Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas, figured to be on the ascent as one of the NFL's budding stars at the position.

Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan took it to another level, deeming Vaccaro the best overall safety in the NFL during Vaccaro's rookie season in 2013. The weight of the lofty expectations, however, was too much, too soon.

Vaccaro never fully recovered from an ankle injury in 2013 and it showed in his play in 2014. He didn't possess the same speed or burst. He missed far too many tackles and blew far more assignments than he did as a rookie first-round pick.

Who knows, last year may have galvanised some of these guys, and brought them together. We'll see. I can't wait to find out!

Kenny V should have no problem rebounding if healthy. If we really have thinned the defensive playbook to look more like 2 years ago, I think we should be ok.

At the same time, we had so many injuries in the secondary last year that it would have had problems no matter the change in playbook. Plus Corey White was on the team.

If Kenny is allowed to be player he is he will bounce back. If you can get into Steve Smiths head and make that guy lose his cool and take him out of a game you can do it to just about ever WR in the NFL.

Just need this CB and LB group to gel.

Hoping he can reach his full potential this year. He has all the tools to be a very good player in the leauge.
