Re: Rookies Looking Good in Camp
Stephone Anthony, Damian Swann, Bobby Richardson and Tyler Davison are looking good.
Andrus Peat... Not so much. |

Re: Rookies Looking Good in Camp
Lots of 1st and 2nd year guys killing it at camp.
Yeah I know, its only day 4, but you can't help but get excited by some of these younger players not only flashing, but flat out shining. Anthony (might be the D-beast of camp so far) Richardson Davison Edibali (looking great) Coleman (might be the O-beast of camp so far along with Cooks) Coleman may indeed be the real deal folks, as many suggested last year. He's looking incredible so far Powell Breaux Lance Lewis (where did this cat come from?) Jean-Baptiste (yes, he looks so much better than last year) Also the star of today's camp was Kenny Vaccaro. They said he was all over the place lighting people up left and right. I'm also pleased with solid reports anout Spencer, Kevin Williams, Armstead, Kenny Hicks, Philips, Jenkins, Browner... The only real downside is it appears Andrus Peat is getting absolutely humiliated in camp at RT by numerous rushers. I'm hoping its just because he's playing RT and is so used to playing LT. Its gonna take time. |

Re: Rookies Looking Good in Camp
If Peat can take over as the starter this year at any time we are way ahead of the game with him.
Next year at this time he might have a shot to honestly make a push to take over as the starter. year 3 would not make me angry either. this is why he was ranked all over the boards at draft time. getting a dancing bear to slide quickly with grace is always a challenge. My number one concern with him comes into play here. He needs to get nasty. It is the nasty mentality that always seem to put that final little touch to an OL player IMO. No he will never be a Turley. But being a complete opposite is not good. he just need some atomic balm or something in his jock to jump start him. You known to put that fine edge on the desire for pancakes. OL and pancakes must go hand in hand IMO. You gotta want to drive your assignment into the dirt and just bury him. humiliation, dominance and inflicting pain. This has to be you favorite part of the game. Ok here is my idea of perfection. Conrad Dobler (bring back memories?) and Turley on the right side of an OL is my idea of perfection. Ok i am getting gitty here ![]() He was not my pick at the time BUT I understand the pick and am willing to let it develop as you can see. If he can make that on field personality adjustment IMO he will work out just fine. Sky could be the limit ![]() |

Re: Rookies Looking Good in Camp
Being an OT myself I am not the least worried about Peat, switching sides on the line is a huge deal if you haven't played on that side before or in a long time. All of a sudden you have to do everything "backwards". Its like trying to brush your teeth with your left hand if you are right handed, you'll learn it after a while but it won't be pretty at first.

Re: Rookies Looking Good in Camp
I wouldn't worry about Andrus Peat yet
Remember Terron Armstead, possibly our best O lineman at the moment? Yeah he couldn't even get into the correct O lineman stance during training camp Now the guy is quickly developing into a star. |

Re: Rookies Looking Good in Camp
This is the best thing I heard from camp to date:
The Saints put the pads on for the first time Saturday and almost immediately the tone was set by the defense. They clearly got the best of the offense The defense should be ahead of the offense, this is really good news |
