Lol. Dude he is fine. They are letting other guy's get in the rotation right now. He is scheduled to play the 1st preseason game.

It'd be nice to see Byrd get out there and play and earn the huge contract he has. Even when he was playing last year before he was injured, he didn't look all that great....of course no one on our defense looked very good last year.

Agreed and even more so he needs to develop chemistry with the group and that takes time. Last year I thought Victor Butler would be the biggest question mark on the team going into camp ... this year it's J Byrd.

Chemistry is the key word there. Byrd needs to build that chemistry that he couldn't get going last year after missing TC.

Never was a fan of Byrd. Always saw him a good player on a bad team. Not an elite player. At this point, I would be happy if he would just be a good player for the Saints this year.

The whole thing was that it would be better this year because Byrd would have a whole training camp and OTA's to practice with the team and build chemistry. Not happenin'. He only missed four days of training camp last year... So far this year he's missed more with 5 and counting.

honestly that's my concern. dude started same place last season and we kept being told that was the difference this year. now it's business as usual as far as he goes..

We might as well chalk Byrd up to end his season right now. Hell, why we're at it, let's just trade him and eat millions more in dead money. Come on man! Look, I see your point of him missing valuable time in practice but you cannot let that make or break the season for him. Last year was last year. Let the man play and if he sucks, then we hit the panic button. And trust me, he will play.

Per reports today (Nola.com) Byrd was at practice doing light jogging. That's a start ;).

What does he need to practice for? Y'all know he's gonna be playing 50 yards from the LOS. All he has to do is watch for anything deep. How hard can it be?
