Saints waive Glenn Foster... Failed Physical

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va -- The New Orleans Saints have waived defensive end Glenn Foster with a failed physical designation and signed defensive back Travis Manning.

Foster, a 2013 undrafted rookie out of Illinois, went on IR last October after sustaining a knee injury against the Lions. He has been unable to practice all summer while rehabbing and was on the physically unable to perform list as of Thursday.

Foster has spent most of the offseason practices working off to the side with an athletic trainer while wearing a knee brace.

Manning, an undrafted rookie free agent out of Northwest Missouri State, was briefly with the Packers in May and also participated in the Chiefs minicamp on a tryout basis.

Manning, 5'11, 196 pounds, was one of three cornerbacks, including Alfonzo Dennard, who tried out on Thursday with P.J. Williams, Keenan Lewis and Damian Swann out of commission. He and current Saints cornerback Brian Dixon were former teammates.

Shame, I really liked him. I guess his injury was just too nmuch to overcome, so far.

Yeah that does suck. Thought the guy had the talent to be a good pro.

Yep, he did. Just goes to show that even with all the advanced medical procedures available now, a knee injury can still end your career.

Maybe he continues rehabbing and resurfaces down the line. It worked pretty well for Ninkovich.

When he gets healthy, he will be back in the NFL.

Damn, just knew it was coming and was in denial; but the fact he wasn't yet on the field wasn't a good indicator...

He was a quality rotation man for our line...

These young guys have one helluva opportunity; hope they win the position and aren't selected as a lesser of a liability selection...

Seemed like he was always injured, either playing through one or being out of the line-up because of one.

What he did on the field was promising, but you can't make the club from the tub.

So, this was expected.

Darn it! He was a good player for us. Hard worker that is invaluable as depth on the line.
