Sean Payton wants Saints rookie QB Garrett Grayson to pick up the pace

"The first thing that comes to mind is the time clock with our game is much different than the college game, so you're just kind of pulling your hair out. ‘Let's go, quicker, quicker, quicker, in and out of the huddle quicker, to the line of scrimmage.' So that's something that he needs to work at," Payton said when asked for his initial thoughts of Grayson's performance.

"I made the comment to [offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr.], I said, ‘Look, we're down two scores, we're gonna need three quarters at the rate we're playing, the tempo we're playing," Payton continued. "I think [Grayson] made some good throws. I'm sure there's a couple where he's trying to force it into coverage. We'll see on the tape."

I just want him to pick up his last check on the way out.

McCown is alright, probably better than the last 10 QB's we have had before Brees but likely time to move on. Grayson is raw but has thrown some really sharp passes in tight coverage. A lot of potential.

I understand the pick but I still just do not see it as a solution to the future. so all I can say is lets see how this works out.I still like Sean Mannion out of Oregon St. better.

You wanted a future starting QB? 2015 was not a great year.

If the saints tank I still want Connor Cook Michigan St.

right on papz why are we stuck watching that guy snap after snap when hes not going to be here for any meaningful game ever, we need to put the future taking these precious snaps . we know if brees goes down, well mccown will just bring us to bottom of the pits. at least the younger future guys could get going with experience under center. the kids can run out of trouble and mccown just lays down when pressured just like hes always done with teams before us. hes a mop up qb only and always will be mop up.

its time to cut bait with McCown , what's his salary 2-mill, cut that clown and let the youth get snaps please. maybe why payton and clan wants grayson to get it going now. just maybe they are thinking letting him go, but not till the very end. to make sure all teams are good with what they've got, if we may have to get him back.he will still be out there.

Griffin and Grayson will compete to hold on extra points and field goals.

No you really don't. If you're thinking B1G, both of the OSU boys throw rings around Cook. Watch him in any game against a really good D and you'll see a lot of indecision and misfired balls.

-And every team in the NFL qualifies as a pretty good defense by college standards.
