Saints release Nick Toon

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
Saw that coming.

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
No surprise. Toon lacks that desire to be great. He's your typical do the bare minimum and don't care about advancing type of guy. In our pass happy offense if he wanted it bad enough you bet he'd be getting playing time. But he doesn't want it bad enough. Good riddance.

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
He could have been as good as his Dad, hunger just wasn't there...
And that's okay, just wished he wouldn't have wasted our time... |
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
Not a shock, Snead already looks like he has more desire than Toon ever had.
|
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
Snead was head and shoulders over Toon even if Toon was physically the same over him.
|
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
Arrington 2.0
|
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
Feel bad for Toon, but SO GLAD we moved on. Just didn't work out, and we've got too much talent to be stubborn and keep forcing this guy. Best of luck to him.
|
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
I don't feel bad for Toon.
He was given 3 years of opportunity and a HOF QB. It didn't work man. Hope you realize your dream with another organization. |
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
this is great... now who's going to catch the ball for us

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
Arrington, Tanner and Toon must really be good dudes. They stayed on the roster for years and never showed a thing.
|
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
That experiment is over............shrugs.

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
Willie, Willie, Willie.

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
About damn time! I had high high hopes for Toon when we drafted him but seemed like he never developed. He's mediocre at best. Stuck with him too long in my opinion.
And I seriously hope Coleman breaks out. But honestly, I think he's going to be another bust. Hope I'm wrong |

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
Can he stay healthy? That was the gamble when we picked him.

And for those who think the sky is falling at wide receiver... We have a well-rested Marques Colston, a surging Brandin Cooks, a hungry Willie Snead, a promising Brandon Coleman and a fifth receiver in either Joe Morgan, Josh Morgan... Moving along...:bng: |
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
About time, he should have been cut last season.

about time

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
All of his fathers talent, none of his fathers heart.

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
Toon, Sunseri and Powell were all placed on IR.

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
Just didn't work out. It happens. Wish him the best.
Someone else needs to step it up. I'm still waiting for one of these newbies to show me some hands... in a crowd...on 3rd-and-7 across the middle...shake it off then do it again... make the adjustments when a little low or a little behind. I've seen way too much bread basket catching and arm cradling. Drops should be rare to non-existing. PLEASE! somebody other than Colston/Cooks, make it happen in the moment. |
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
We've seen this before with other players. For whatever weird reason, Sean Payton has kind of a "thing" or a man-crush, for guys whose Dads played in the league. He's got Mike Golic, Jr. and Mark Ingram on the roster right now, and I am pretty sure he's done it before with other minor "second generation" players whose Dads were in the pros, as well. Remember Payton is a frustrated/thwarted player himself -- he lives vicariously through his team. Golic Sr., Al Toon and Mark Ingram Sr. were ALL kicking around the league at the same time when Payton was dodging sacks and throwing wobblers for the '87 Bears. So for whatever reason, Payton gives these guys every opportunity, every chance, and every benefit of the doubt. It's just a thing he does.

I don't why the Browns insist on cutting WR's that have got great hands. |

Sounds like Lance is making a comeback with the Lions!
Lance Moore working to re-create his Saint-ly success |
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
That's thinking Stafford can be a top five qb without chucking it to Calvin or Tate.
|
Re: Saints release Nick Toon
No surprise, he had no heart. Didn't do anything.

Re: Saints release Nick Toon
The "Front Office" plan of "Not Having a Plan" is paying great dividends now!!! Now all we have to do is lose 16 in a row and leave the other team hurting!!! The Perfect, Perfect Season!!!
