Stanley Jean-Baptiste surprised by New Orleans Saints release, according to report
I love SJB's quote. "A lot of people don't think I can play cornerback and I've always been an underdog, so it added fuel to the fire," he said. Somebody needs to ask him why he didn't throw all the fuel he had on the fire while in NO. Don't you think this may be the problem; that he was holding something back.
This is no different than Graham suddenly saying he can block, now that his job in Seattle depends on it. Stanley Jean-Baptiste passes on New York Jets to join Detroit Lions; switch to safety not current plan | MLive.com |

I pretty much knew he was gone once Payton gave him that scolding on the sidelines after running out off bounds on the Punt

Wait until he's out of the league in 2 years or less.
That will dwarf his surprise about being released from a team in need of cornerbacks... |

Everyone on here says preseason games don't matter. But, when a player who by all accounts had made the team, doesn't go all out in a meaningless game, he gets cut. By those standards, the Saints roster should be at about 30. He wasn't ready last year but had the look of an NFL quality CB this camp and preseason. Dixon and Wilson have never looked like an NFL caliber CB.

We haven't been shy about cutting draft picks in the past... I don't know why he's so surprised. Just because you were drafted, doesn't mean you don't need to earn your spot.
It's been a big disappointment all around. |

Being good in practice and being good in games is two different things. When the lights came on, he looked just as bad as before. This was a stupid pick in the 2nd round.

You can grade out individuals somewhat, but it's almost impossible to grade them together, as a team, when you've got a lot of guys that haven't played together much and they're all competing against each other instead of WITH each other. That's why people like me say preseason doesn't matter. |
