Cool Swamp Bar in Henderson, Breaux Bridge, or Lafayette?

I have a gig in Mississippi this weekend for our season opener. I'll be coming back from Jackson, and would like to set up shop to watch the Saints-Cardinals
within 4 hours of Houston on the way back.

Anybody got suggestions?

Whiskey River on the Levee in Henderson looks like a really cool place.
Anybody been there?

Get off at the Opelousas exit and get in the Pont des Mouton exit lane. Turn right and then left onto service road and go into Buffalo Wild Wings. The game will be on.

Lame...

As for cool swamp bars Whiskey River is great and I would assume they show the Saints games. I've only been once myself and it was on a Sunday at some point in the offseason and they were packed for live Zydeco and dancing.

There is a place in Hammond La, Mariners. Real hole, good food, drinks. Have not been in a while but good Saints country. Hammond Louisiana Restaurant | The Mariner's Inn

Sorry. I know the game is on at Buffalo Wild Wings. That's why I suggested it. It's definitely not a cool swamp bar. Just trying to be helpful. Won't make that mistake again. Lol!

Mike...

Check out the Corner Bar on Johnston in Lafayette...

It has good staff, grill menu and it's not always a sausage fest in there...

They used to have local cuisine specials on special game days (season opener)...

If it's not too your liking, add the Lafayette Walk-ons as a fall back point...

I'll be back in Thibodaux for the game, otherwise I'd meet ya as I some business there...

This sounds good. I want a Hole, for sure. Hammond might not be enough road behind me, though. Im wanting to just drive 3 1/2 or 4 hours to Houston, after the game.

BWW was a terrible answer for sure, but you're forgiven AAS. You got plenty O' Good Will here. Hope you'll catch me & friends in the Quarter b-4 the Bucs game.

Yeah, looong time B&G member, I rarely post, usually just drunkin post game rants, lol.

I'm in Lafayette, and most times have to watch games in the kitchen I work in, but I would bet whiskey river is a cool spot for saints games. Maybe give them a call to make sure they got tvs and all that...

Thanks St. Thomas. I just want to whiskey River and they wouldn't even let me in... So forget them. How much does it cost to turn the TV on for somebody. Especially when I'm hungry and I want to drink . Mcgees take me about 10 minutes to find me but I'm gonna sit here for minute see how they do

Re: Cool Swamp Bar in Henderson, Breaux Bridge, or Lafayette?

Overall not impressed with Whiskey River Landing or McGees.

Whiskey River Landing girl was pleasant, but no one even seemed aware there was a Saints game on. ????? They didnt even have the tv on. Im walking round w/ 7 Benjamins in my back pocket, a mighty thirst, AND im Hungry!
They wanted me to wait outside until 3pm. so, NEXT!

I sat in McGees for 15 min before anyone noticed me. One bartender was apologetic, and very nice. The rest of the staff there acted like I had The Plague, and very rudely refused to acknowledge my presence. Its too bad, because this place is on a beautiful site. A place like that should be packed to the gills, and be bigger than Mulates. I guess their mgmt isnt that bright.

Turtle Bar, the first one on the Levee, was fairly good. They need to employ more than just one server, on game day, but she happened to rock. A couple guys in there had no interest in the game, and were so busy laughing idiotically, it was a bit disconcerting. I guess it was their first time to drink.
Im surprised to know there are people in S. LA, who dont bleed black & gold, and here I am from Texas & my heart is Fleur-Shaped.
