Colston
Cut this guy now! He has went from one of the best possession wr's in the NFL to one of the worst in the league. He is costing waaaayyyyy to much to play this bad. Brees can only put the ball in the right spot. It's up to the WR's to catch the ball.

Re: Colston
Colstons done
He dropped everything thrown his way last season and this preseason, cut him now and bring some young WR's up. Makes the Andrus Peat pick look even more ridiculous, we all knew damn well we needed a WR early. |

Re: Colston
Hoping Spiller comes back next week....we need more play makers on the field. I hate seeing Colston look this bad. He is definitely my favorite Saint, but it's been time to move on. All the WR that were in the draft this year and yet we did not get one...maybe signing Hicks isn't such a bad idea.

Hicks sure can't be any worse! |

Another reason why Loomis & Payton should go.

Re: Colston
Colston looked very mortal and just more limited with what he can do anymore. Can't seem to get vertical for some of those balls.
|
Re: Colston
I think you guys greatly belittle Brees blame on this as well. He is suppose to be one of the most accurate passers in the league but he puts the ball in some awful spots for the wr as well

Agree that Peat should be playing and am most disappointed he wasn't in shape... |
Re: Colston
This was the first game. Many new faces in new places. This team will look very different in 4 weeks.
That said the play was uninspiring by the following: Colston O line D line Secondary Good news: We have a kicker |

Re: Colston
It was the 1st game of the year. Stop.

Re: Colston
Colston don't look like he have that passion or hunger anymore. It's time for him to let it go

Remember last year Week 1 - Fumbles and lost us the game Remember the game vs the 49ers, we desperately needed a TD and he dropped a wide open TD he used to make in his sleep. The guys done, send him packing, promote some young guys. I'm pretty sure he dropped between 4-5 passes, one of them was a costly turnover. |
Re: Colston
I wouldn't cut Colston. Perhaps take him out of the starting lineup and bring him off the bench as a part-time slot guy. Maybe he would perform better in a reduced role.
|
Re: Colston
Fairly easy to cover him. If he's not wide open the ball is likely getting swatted down. Even when open the drops are a real problem.
|
Re: Colston
WOW, just WOW.
Really? First game, on the road, new team, first real game for a huge number, against a good home team, and still in it with 2 minutes left playing sub-par Saints football. Now comments of Brees, Payton, Loomis, and Colston have to go? |
Re: Colston
Poor throw by Brees, Colston makes attempt, ball bounces Arizona's way. Providence, luck, whatever you want to call it, it went against us yesterday on that play. We didn't get torched by Palmer like I thought. We have a fair team that has lots of younger players with a chance to improve on the season. Some players come off injuries and we are better. I figure if we are 2-2 after 4 games it will be a good start.

Re: Colston
Colston has no separation at all now. Throw in the declining hands and it's just not fun to watch. He can easily be covered one on one. But, it's not like any of the other guys on the squad deserves the spot over him. With no Graham, the Saints need more four wides on passing situations with Colston, Cooks, Coleman and Snead. Use Colston or Coleman in the Graham role.
|
Re: Colston
We just played against 2 of the better corners in the game and you LSU fans should know that. How much separation did Cooks have? Good Lord guys it was the first game and this is what happens when your starters don't see much game time in preseason. Game speed is considerably faster than practice. I saw one pass drop I blame on Colston, the others were not in the best location when thrown.
|
Re: Colston
Yeah lots of blatant over reaction fans here. Colston has lost a step and is in his declining time but I think there are still ways to use him. Since hearing of the Graham trade I have been hopeful that we would migrate Colston to a similar role as Graham. Put him in as a receiving tight end. He doesn't have the speed anymore to get any separation on db's but he could be a size/speed mismatch on a lb'er.
I don't think this guy is a lost cause or anyone else we cut was a better option. Colston is a good teammate, locker room presence and solid veteran and he will make his mark this year. He did nothing yesterday to suggest to me he isn't valuable. The pick was not his fault and the catches he missed were marginal throws at best. |
Re: Colston
The INT was deflected by the defender before reaching Colston, so I wouldn't blame him for that.
|
Re: Colston
3 drops from MC that are normally routine.
|
Re: Colston
Colston only had 1 really good game against Carolina last year. Something's in his head. He has caught all of those types of passes from Brees in the past and just drops them all now. Fitzgerald is slower now but the man catches the ball.

Yikes the Colston hate is too much for week one.... I'll give him till next game before I bash the guy...

Re: Colston
Colston can't get open anymore and he never breaks tackles anymore. I think he's done.
