Drew Brees ties Dan Marino on career completions list during Week 1 loss to Cardinals
Put it in the FWIW column!
The New Orleans Saints and quarterback Drew Brees might have lost their season opener on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, however, Brees completed 30 passes (for 355 yards) to tie Dan Marino for third place all-time on the NFL's completions list. The Saints QB has completed 4,967 passes in his 15 years in the league for 56,388 yards, so far. Brett Favre holds the record with 6,300 completed passes in his career. New Orleans native Peyton Manning is second on the list with 5,951. On Brees' first completion this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he will pass Marino for third place all-time. This will matter in 10 years when he might get inducted into the HOF. Quite the accomplishment.

Tired of hearing about Drew Brees record this or that. How about winning a game. You think that would be a record ?
Manning was a good quarterback on a losing team what kind of satisfaction is that ? |

I don't like the Marino comparisons because Marino was outplayed by Jim Kelly in hi division(and I don't mean yards and stats).

Dan Marino was rarely outplayed; his teams may have been outplayed... When Marino was on his game, un-freakingstoppable... First time I ever made a bet on an NFL game, I was in high school and bet that the '85 Bears would cover and beat Marino and the Dolphins... Still hear my Dad's voice in my ears as he let me stay up and watch that MNF game... "Son, you should never bet, especially on NFL games...and a sucker would bet against Dan Marino..." I never put money on an NFL game again until I started playing fantasy football... Understand the weight of winning championships, but Marino was the best I ever saw, including my childhood hero, Archie Manning..." Peyton Manning gets an edge as probably the hardest working quarterback of all-time... But never saw a quicker, more accurate release than Dan Marino and it was an absolutely dead shame that Don Shula was too selfish to step aside sooner so the Fins could bring in somebody to build a team around Marino in his prime... |

You know what's a shame is that after it's all said and done, many will still think the Marino was a better QB.
