Saints resign Joe Morgan per Nick Underhill

The New Orleans Saints have brought back wide receiver Joe Morgan, one week after releasing him.

"We're happy to have him back," Saints quarterback Drew Brees said.

Morgan was released in the final wave of cuts on Sept. 5, but a source indicated at the time that Morgan had been told he would be re-signed once the Saints were able to move some players around on their roster. The situation was similar to Robert Meachem's last season, when he was also released in the final wave of cuts but re-signed.

Glad he is back...we just got more speed to stretch the field and let's face it...he was that spark that sometimes brought our offense to life.

Logical decision. He'll be shuffled on and off the roster. We sure needed someone besides Cooks who can get seperation.

He never had a problem catching. I think his attitude was an issue. Maybe he has finally grown up a bit

They stopped the deep throws because all we had was Cooks.

This might be good if they only use him for deep passe and nothing else.

I wonder how much of this signing is due to how Colston and the rookies are playing, or is SP trying to re-capture some of the mo-jo the Saints had with Morgan in '09?

But I can promise, TB is going to do a better job against us than against Tennessee because that had nothing to do entirely with the bucs being bad. That has been the titans way of doing things every season opener. The team's secondary is good early on. They also however got Lebeau in the offseason and Mariotta played with a chip on his shoulder. He was supposed to be the first qb taken but the championship game changed that. I think that and the fact Winston beat a SEC team the previous year had a lot to do with TB changing his mind. Ntm, it didn't matter Mariotta beat Winston head on in the playoff. We are a division rival that they are desperate to beat, and this being early in the season. We have already swept them three straight years and that has never been done in this division. Also, Mike Evans was not playing either. We need CJ for this game imo to win.

I still say that the issues with Colston are due to not being healthy enough to practice at his age.

Hell...he's also all broke up from Brees not throwing him open but more so to the middle of those defenses...he has taken a lot of punishment over the years...you don't all of a sudden forget how to catch...

Morgan will help this team...and having him back allows us to use Cooks in the slot more so we can get him in space.

What difference does it make, I though the consensus was Drew couldn't throw a deep ball anyway?

against ariz. ,I were wishing morgan were there. he spreads the defense and the ones that don't take him serious is the ones he burns down the field time and time again. true he didn't have a good camp,or preseason ,but I know what makes him confident and its sending him down field making those ridiculous catches.

Morgan can separate - ONE of the BIG things that is missing.
Catching a football with their hands...
Now that's the BIGGEST thing that's missing.
How do you get to the NFL level and NOT catch the ball with your hands?
Sickening!
I hope they fix that and quick. We can't afford drops after everything else worked during a play.
We've got lots to work on.

You mean 2011-12? Morgan wasn't on the '09 team.
