College game scouting
What positions are we likely aiming for in next year's draft? I mean I hope we do well this year but I still want to watch for what we could have next year maybe. I believe we need a receiver, right guard(because Evans is getting up there), RT(because how long does Streiff have left), and defensively OLBs and NT.
But I need specifics. I only get a small handfull of college games to watch with no cable. No ESPN college wrap up show or anything like that. Without this, cfb is rather boring nowadays. |
Re: College game scouting
only position that jumps out me so far this season is DT. Right out of the gate I do not see any heavy weights NT in the draft so far. gotta see what the Jr's do
Keep working on LB and this looks to be a very good year for LB Jaylon Smith Leonard Floyd Outside of round one Joshua Perry Terrance Smith De'Vondre Campbell Strong side ILB look good also Reggie Ragland Kendell Beckwith Kentrell Brothers WR? been screaming for one for years so god only knows OG/OC? Evan Boehm Missouri is looking pretty good. Nothing wrong with 3 starts that can switch to OC. Then there is TE. |
Re: College game scouting
what regional conference games are you stuck watching?

Re: College game scouting
What the big three networks put on in my area, I'm in SC.
Btw a good third RB(because of Spiller's injuries) is Leonard Fournette, but guess what, we won't draft him. Because he plays for LSU. |
Re: College game scouting
So far today Duke's game was on the ACC network which airs on the CW affiliate and one of the two Fox affiliates.
ABC has a triple header with MSU/AF already played, now Miami/Nebraska Fox has not aired any cfb games the last couple of weeks. NBC has GT/ND |
Re: College game scouting
We won't take fournette because it would take us having an absolutely terrible season to have a high enough pick. He's a monster and he'll be a top 10 pick, and probably top 5.
|
Re: College game scouting
I'd rather just concentrate on one game at a time.

Re: College game scouting
ACC is not so bad. I am in Boston so ACC and Ivy league aRE THE BIG GAMES. LOL
GT/ND was good one some solid prospects on both sides of the ball. ND Jaylon Smith we might have a shot at in the draft. he is playing ILB but a 34 OLB on the weak side could be his home in the NFL. There are a boat load of others also GT is a tough on to figure. it is a team effort at GT and so far no one has jumped out at me. but they do have some talent. Adam Gotsis a strong side DE at the nfl level in a 34 is one to keep an eye on FSU Terrance Smith OLB is a 5th year player that is well groomed and well coached. solid instincts, high football IQ and athletic ability. I really want to see how he finishes out the year. Duke did not do so bad either. they might just have a few later rounders on the team BC is like Duke ACC is a hard conference to scout. Teams are well coached but a star studded conference it is not. Today is kinda of still a warm up mode for most of the ACC. At least you have SC so SEC football is a sure thing SC v s Georgia has more than a few solid prospect to keep an eye on today |
Re: College game scouting
We'll target BPA after we address holes thru free agency.
|
Re: College game scouting
Fournette was impressive today.
|
Re: College game scouting
No SC is on today on my channels. SEC network now is digital only because of the popularity and ESPN partnership.
|
Re: College game scouting
And there is nobody worth drafting from SC anyways. It's 45-13 right now Georgia.

Re: College game scouting
I don't follow recruiting near as much as I used to, but Fournette is one guy I've followed since his freshman year. He was always a transcendent talent. There is always a certain fear with players like him, that they won't be able to deal with the pressure and constant bombardment of the media and coaches all over the country.
He seems to give no F's about any of that. He is without a doubt one of the three most talented RB's at the college level, in the last 35 years, with Herschel Walker and Adrian Peterson. I don't care about any player before that time, as the game was just entirely too different. Leonard actually looks like a clone of Herschel every time I see him run. I don't view running back as a need, but he is THAT good where I would absolutely take him if given the chance. He is a generational talent. But he is a sophomore. He's two years away from being draft eligible (which is great as an LSU fan), and while the Saints might be bad enough this year to get a top 5 pick, I don't know about next year. |

First priority will be guard but hopefully we can get that in rd 2. TE or wr Hopefully we can get in rd 3. With the 1st pick either a elite DT that can rush passer or a elite DE that will complement Cam Jordan. |

Re: College game scouting
I guess we need to start something in the college section of the board to help us all out

Re: College game scouting
Kenny Lawler - Cal ... was pretty nice in the redone on Saturday vs the Shorthorns (Texas).

Re: College game scouting
Well, I guess it's up to the new scouting department to prove that this years productive draft wasn't a fluke.
