The season is not over until game 16. There are still games to play and inevitably opportunities to enjoy plays here and there regardless of what we have done to date.

Having said all that: There is nothing to worry about. It is still "early doors"; there is still a long way to go. We will have our day, hopefully days. I am not sure our division is all that good.

We all know that we are getting closer to the end of the Payton and Brees era. In the meantime, Payton's errors will be magnified. The errors are no more or less than it ever was. Ultimately players on the field have to execute. We cannot win wiothout Brees. I hope with Brees can help the newer members of the team to keep together to win a few games and to gel over the next couple of seasons.

We are a long way from being significant playoff contenders.

I think a lot of people had us 2-2 going into the Eagles game anyway. If we can get it together and win in Carolina, and play the Dez-Tony-less Cowboys in prime time, it can still be so.

Providing, of course, Brees injury is not significant.

Agree with your assessment completely. The 2015 Saints look like an extension of 2014. What happened to the "new" Saints that were supposed to take the field after disposing of all the locker room cancers.

My opinion is that the year away took the edge off of Payton. Payton, and the assistants who replaced those that went on to bigger and better jobs after the SuperBowl win are being consistently out coached.

So, maybe Payton wasn't the football genius everyone made him out to be. Maybe he just had the right mix of an exceptional staff, solid players and a great QB in his prime.

He and Loomis haven't shown the ability to sustain a winning program like the Pats and Pack. Basically, we are now just another NFL team. OK one year. Sucky the next. In short, the Saints are no longer elite.
