If they sell now...that really only leaves us and Indy...and Indy has been working hard at getting a deal done now...they have even proposed making the Stadium a Casino/Football Combo..but..it didn't go over very well with City and State officials |

I just think LA is a ploy to get everyone, including Minnesota, to pay more incentives to NFL teams and the NFL. Just my opinion, don\'t think they care if a team is there or not.

I don\'t understand the urgency to get a team there either...several have tried..and all have failed...but..the League is just undoubtedly convinced that L.A. is a fantastic site for a team..
Also...I don\'t know if you guys have heard this... In the years to come..the Leagus has also set , as long term goals,...to get a team in Toronto..and get this..Mexico City... |

I would think if the group from Arizona buys the team, they would probably move it to L.A. If the Timberwolves guy buys, they stay in Minnesota.

There IS no urgency to get a team in L.A. If there were, a team would be there already. Two teams left in the last ten years or so. That says all I need to about the how viable a franchise in L.A. will be.

\"The commissioner also vowed to have a franchise in Los Angeles by the end of the decade. \"What matters is two teams left L.A. a decade ago. We want to get back there, whether it\'s \'08 or \'09, it\'s going to be an unacceptably long period of time out of L.A.\" \" http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/3375856 |

If you are talking about the NFL not caring if they have a team there or not, I tend to agree here, also. They continuously talk like they want a team there, but, for some reason it has not happened yet, and it does seem that they like the benefits of not having a team there over the rewards of having one there. Like Halo, just my opinion. I had to edit this post. For some reason I thought the Raiders moved to LA twice, but apparently that is not the case, I wonder why I thought that...maybe they were talking about moving back there a second time but the deal never went through. Anyway, my bad. [Edited on 11/2/2005 by Saint_LB] |

Boxer, I have seen where Tag says things like that, but, honestly, doesn\'t urgency mean more than saying maybe by \'08 or \'09? I\'ve got to think there is no hurry since the NFL isn\'t pushing someone there and, hence, no urgency.
One thing I\'ve learned in watching the NFL is you can\'t trust any of the official talking heads. Tag saying that only means (to me) he\'d like L.A. to continue to be the leverage all the small market team owners need to extort their cities and states. It\'s that simple. I believe that the raiders left L.A. before the Rams and the Rams have been in St. Louis for 10 years. IF the NFL gets a team there by the end of the decade, it will have been 15 years since that city had a team. Cleveland went only 3 years without a team. THAT is urgency. You guys have comforted me some....... But the thing that worries me is if, any City/Franchise has the Ability to fumble the ball it is New Orleans/Saints. It would be a horrible thing, cause I think we are the Greatest Fans in the Nfl, I mean Really.

I saw this headline on the CBS website: Benson losing battle of public opinion
It\'s from an article in the Biloxi Sun Herald. However, you\'ve got to be a VIP member to see it on the CBS site and I couldn\'t find it on the Sun Herald site. Gumbo, since you\'re from that way, would you pick up a copy and see if there\'s anything new therein? A new perspective even. Thanks Here\'s a link to what cbs has: http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8151817 [Edited on 11/2/2005 by ScottyRo] |

The question and problem is not LA -- its internal to New Orleans -- Whereas in Minn there is a Minn based group with the bucks to buy the team the same cannot be said about New Orleans. If we cannot come up with a deal and the Saints are bought it will be by an outside investor. As for the comments and questions about LA. How come there is no LA based investors making a play to buy any team -- why are they not lobbying for an exapansion team. Those that said LA doesn;t care are correct -- Only TV and the NFL really cares.

Hold on now..there are big time investors...what they are wanting to do..is First...get the state of the art new stadium, and plans are allready underway for that....and these guys have major money...I\'m talking Forbes top 20...that kind of money....and..the NFL really desires for L.A. to be a two team market...like NY...
So ..even if tommorow , there was an expansion team brought in..we\'re still not clear from danger... And..the owners unanimously voted out bringing in an expansion right now... http://www.dailynews.com/Stories/0,1...693494,00.html One of the likeliest candidates for relocation is the New Orleans Saints, who have an out in their lease after the 2005 season. The Saints are in discussions with the state of Louisiana over renovations at the Superdome. The current lease calls for the state to pay the Saints $187 million over a 10-year period, but the state is struggling to make those payments. \"We\'re in serious negotiations, but we\'ve got a lot of problems,\" Saints owner Tom Benson said. \"We\'re in a small market and the city and the state know that we can\'t survive without their help. \"When (the current lease) was signed, people felt like if we couldn\'t work out a permanent solution, it would be best to leave. We\'re at the point where there\'s either going to be a permanent The threat is very real guys... |

Doesn\'t this sound awfully close to Sprewell saying he couldn\'t live off 10 mil per year cause \"he had to feed his family?\"

I personally don\'t this LA is gonna do well. The fans are great as long as you are winning. If not, they would rather go to the beach. Too much to do besides football.
