Brees on the sideline
His head was completely in the game. I was very surprised to see him by himself and not once talking or going over the playbook with Payton . He was licking his hands every snap just like he was in the game. Mental reps each and every play. My question is how come we have not once seen Byrd on the sideline? I heard tell he was there yesterday but to my knowledge he hasnt even been traveling with the team. For as much money as he is making and for as little time as he has practiced with this team he should be out there watching every move and studying the playbook. At the very least he should be out there supporting his team.

Brees will be our next HC.

Re: Brees on the sideline
I think it's great that he was that into the game. Hope to have him back against the Cowboys.

Re: Brees on the sideline
I think it was all for show... looked silly as hell to me.

Re: Brees on the sideline
I have a hard time taking people seriously when they act the way Drew was on the sideline. I'm not inside his mind, so I can't say for fact that he was putting on a show, but that just isn't normal behavior. It isn't harmful or anything, of course, but it's a pet peeve of mine to see people act in what I believe to be a rather fake manner.

Re: Brees on the sideline
If you have ever seen him practice, you know he is not faking. After a completion in practice, he still goes through the motions of going through his receiver rotation. A little weird, yes, but it's how he keeps his mental sharpness.
As far as this Byrd person, who the hell are you talking about? |

Re: Brees on the sideline
People keep saying politics. Has he once said he wanted to be involved?

Re: Brees on the sideline
They showed Byrd on the sidelines a couple of times on the TV feed - he seemed like he was pretty into the game, not joking around but focused on what happened on the field and reacting to it.

Re: Brees on the sideline
Brees is the consummate professional. This guy lives and breathes football. I can see him making the track of QB coach, OC through HC. I truly hope we find a way to keep him a Saint til retirement as long as it can work financially for the organization.

Re: Brees on the sideline
Look for Drew to be a Head Coach in NFL someday.

I saw plenty of "silly" last Sunday, but it wasn't Brees. |
Re: Brees on the sideline
Are you kidding me?? Licking his hands?? How does this translate into steering this rudderless ship??

Re: Brees on the sideline
Well I guess the good news he wasn't eating a hot dog with extra mustard.
