Re: SAINTS - Cowboys Gameday Thread

Was just sitting reflecting on my achievements for the day and feeling I had worked hard and achieved a lot. Then i realized I just watched footy all day.

/shrug

A Saints win is a hard but good day at the office.

And Browner finally made some plays.

He needs to make CB PLAYS but he made some nice plays nonetheless

Well, at least one free agent signing (Spiller) has directly yielded a win...

Re: SAINTS - Cowboys Gameday Thread

They need to stop leaving browner on a island, he isn't that type of player more like a cover 2 corner or weak side lb

Collinsworth can't talk about pick plays when the Cowboys were doing that and holding all day,,,,plus face mask

He called out Dallas for it too, as did Michaels.

I quite like Collingsworth.

Re: SAINTS - Cowboys Gameday Thread

Vaccaro's Witten burn and another 1 st down penalty from Browner were a few unpleasant side shows.

The blitz got some pressure and Dallas O-line is no slouch-good
Run game looked better-good
Brees can be a game manager-good
WR hands come to life-good
We needed a W to break the ice.
I'll take a W but a long, long way to go before this team is a good team.

Re: SAINTS - Cowboys Gameday Thread

80 yard pass at beginning of OT, shades of Tebow! Nice route by Spiller, now we need to quit holding back and get him more involved in the offense.

I blame Hocker's miss on Payton. If Payton hadn't used up that third time out to argue with the ref like a petulant child, we would have been able to take a knee at the spot where Hocker likes it, run the clock down to 2 seconds, take a timeout and allow Hocker and the spec teams to take their time and execute the kick. It didn't look like a very good snap either by Drescher unless I was seeing things. Ugly win, but we needed the W.

That time out call by Payton made me want to jump through the TV and slap him. Total brain fart. But I blame the missed kick on Hocker. It's a 30 yard attempt, you can't miss that. But he did anyway.

I just hope Armstead is OK. He played hurt but still was our best O-line player.

Congratulations to the rookies on their first Saints win, including these rookies that really stood out tonight...

Stephone Anthony (Sack)

Hau'oli Kikaha (Sack)

Tyeler Davison (Sack)

Bobby Richardson

Marcus Murphy

They got their first NFL win tonight AND had Collinsworth is whining for the Cowboys as they went off the air...

Life is good tonight...

This is what I like to see at the top of our tackle chart!! Only One guy is not a rookie!

New Orleans Defensive
TOT SOLO SACKS TFL PD QB HTS TD
Hau'oli Kikaha 8 4 1 1 0 1 0
Stephone Anthony 7 5 1 1 0 1 0
Brandon Browner 6 5 0 0 1 0 0
Bobby Richardson 6 2 0 2 0 0 0
Damian Swann 4 4 0 0 0 0 0
Tyeler Davison 4 2 1 1 0 1 0

And you have Breaux too who is also a NFL rookie who did a good job.

Cruize 10-05-2015 06:45 AM

Re: SAINTS - Cowboys Gameday Thread

Positives - Brees looked good.
Ingram looked good.
Spiller is a playmaker.
Snead catches everything and blocks. Best Saints WR on tape.
A couple of TE sightings.
Murphy is a legit returner.
Dome win.

Richardson made more plays last night than Hicks in all his years.
Anthony, Kikaha, and Davison all are growing and improving.
Everyone competed.
Byrd played.
Coverage units were good.

Negatives - Brees could have been intercepted atleast 3 times.
Three passes and punt. Usual Saints way to start a game.
Strief is getting beat alot.
With all his skills and hype, Cooks isn't making plays.
HORRIBLE use of timeouts continues.
Young kicker misses with game on the line.
Morstead injury.

Browner and Breaux can't touch guys beyond five yards.
Officiating making games hard to watch. Consistent and bad.
Let Cowboys drive with the game on the line.

+1. These two stood out for me ... not sure what Sean was thinking about on that last time out late in the game and Browner ... put him in the slot. I don't trust him on the outside. He has been a liability at corner thus far.

Re: SAINTS - Cowboys Gameday Thread

The biggest thing that stood out to me was the play calling. Luke came in last week and was just as good as drew. Paytons play calling is holding the offense back, as soon as we go no huddle and brees calls his plays we go right down the field. It's also why the offense looked so much better in the preseason with the ones, Carmichael was calling the plays and should be now.

Payton is predictable and broken as a play caller.

Re: SAINTS - Cowboys Gameday Thread

Defense looked good, well all but BB who commited his 112th holding call this year. Brees proved me wrong and came back in a impressive fashion. The o-line is the worst I have seen in a long time. Strief needs to go. He gets Brees killed on every 5 step drop back (thats why there was no deep passes). Still a 6-10 to 8-8 season I think.
