Wednesday, the NFL announced Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been named the NFC offensive player of the week after beating the Cowboys 26-20 on Sunday.

According to the NFL, Brees has won the award 21 times and this selection marks his 19th as a Saint.

Brees threw for 359 yards on 33-41 attempts with 2 touchdowns including an 80-yard strike to C.J. Spiller to win the game in overtime. Brees' game winner also doubled as his 400th career passing touchdown.

Drew threw crisp passes and looked sharp when he wasn't running for his life or getting hit.

Don't forget he ran a flawless come from behind drive at the end.

It is well deserved.

Even playing hurt and "dinking & dunking" passes was also attributed to them trying to give our young receivers some consistency & confidence.

Also NBC showed the difference in Drew's throwing motion compared to years past. It has definitely changed due to the injuries in 2014 & 2015.

However it shows Drew's competitiveness, toughness, can do attitude & leadership.

The rest of the team as a whole sucks. Why you continue to try to blame it all on the best player on our roster I a haven't a clue. Tom Brady has won four Super Bowls dinking and frickin dunking.

What is your problem?

Everything is always Drew Brees and the offenses fault. Lol. You didn't know that about Teddy? Don't try to discuss stats or logic with him. He refuses to acknowledge it.

So much pointless Drama over Drew. I love the guy and what he's done for us. He's not the same player, at least not right now, that he used to be. There's no reason for anyone to take offense to that. He threw nothing but short passes until the very end. Yes he DID complete those intermediate passes, and that's great, but most of those were wide open throws. He did what he needed to do, but so did Luke McCown last week. McCown faced a far superior defense and it was on the road.

Don't lose your mind over that statement. Drew is a hall of famer, Luke is not. This simply means Drew is banged up and we're not able to open things up very much. He got 80 yards on one play, which was a great play, but it was mostly made by CJ Spiller.

I say this because I see a lot of people wagging their finger at people because Drew won a game. What did he do that anyone said he couldn't? I'll be happy to win games like we did on sunday night for the rest of the season, if it works. But what are the chances of that? How many games are going to be resting on a silver platter for us to barely squeak by?

I'm happy for any kind of win at this point, but I couldn't help but notice the pompous chest beating of some.

I agree, Brees was a game manager and not a gunslinger.

Everyone appreciates toughness, competitiveness etc. Stupidity however, is somehow ok? The man is injured. It is a long season. Backup generator is working fine. Let's wear out, ruin, destroy our best player? Drew is not only player of the week but among the top 5 players of the decade. Let him heal. Putting him in front of 300 lb monsters...just not smart.

Brees doesn't come across as a yell and scream kind of leader. From videos I've watched, he looks like a mentor and teacher. Hebert didn't have the talent to be yelling at anyone, it came across as bush league too.

**** the Saints finally land a HoF QB and you want to nit pick him. Enjoy the ride because I got a feeling you would one of those that after 10-15 years of crappy QBs you would be one of those saying man wish we had someone like Brees

I've read some posts saying we should extend Drew now. Let's wait until the end of the season and see what kind of finishing power he has late in the year.
