Wednesday, the NFL announced Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been named the NFC offensive player of the week after beating the Cowboys 26-20 on Sunday.

According to the NFL, Brees has won the award 21 times and this selection marks his 19th as a Saint.

Brees threw for 359 yards on 33-41 attempts with 2 touchdowns including an 80-yard strike to C.J. Spiller to win the game in overtime. Brees' game winner also doubled as his 400th career passing touchdown.

It is well deserved.

Even playing hurt and "dinking & dunking" passes was also attributed to them trying to give our young receivers some consistency & confidence.

Also NBC showed the difference in Drew's throwing motion compared to years past. It has definitely changed due to the injuries in 2014 & 2015.

However it shows Drew's competitiveness, toughness, can do attitude & leadership.

So much pointless Drama over Drew. I love the guy and what he's done for us. He's not the same player, at least not right now, that he used to be. There's no reason for anyone to take offense to that. He threw nothing but short passes until the very end. Yes he DID complete those intermediate passes, and that's great, but most of those were wide open throws. He did what he needed to do, but so did Luke McCown last week. McCown faced a far superior defense and it was on the road.

Don't lose your mind over that statement. Drew is a hall of famer, Luke is not. This simply means Drew is banged up and we're not able to open things up very much. He got 80 yards on one play, which was a great play, but it was mostly made by CJ Spiller.

I say this because I see a lot of people wagging their finger at people because Drew won a game. What did he do that anyone said he couldn't? I'll be happy to win games like we did on sunday night for the rest of the season, if it works. But what are the chances of that? How many games are going to be resting on a silver platter for us to barely squeak by?

I'm happy for any kind of win at this point, but I couldn't help but notice the pompous chest beating of some.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
