Terron Armstead out! Andrus Peat in!
1 Attachment(s)
Most of the talk this week was about the health of the Eagles' offensive line, it should have been about the health of the New Orleans Saints line.
Saints left tackle Terron Armstead, who injured his knee last Sunday in the team's win over the Dallas Cowboys, has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Veteran Saints guard Jahri Evans is listed as questionable with a knee injury that has sidelined him for two weeks. It appears both Eagles tackles — Jason Peters (quad) and Lane Johnson (knee) — are going to play, Sunday. Rookie first-round pick Andrus Peat will make his first NFL start at left tackle in place of Armstead. New Orleans Saints left tackle Terron Armstead out vs. Eagles | NJ.com |

"At some point, they go," Payton said. "At some point the rookie kicker kicks, or the young receiver goes. Or Terron Armstead makes his first start at Carolina. At some point they go."
Payton said rookie progress has been more evident on defense because they are playing in games. "All of them each week are learning and getting a better feel for the pro game," he said. Added Payton: "I think his confidence is good. I mean, shoot, he's a first-round pick at left tackle. I think he's prepared and he'll be ready to go." Litto and Peat protecting the blind of Drew?
RUN FOREST RUN Thank god Phillies LB corp are banged up. but this is going to be interesting to say the least. My nervous factor for this game just went through the roof Pray Terron is ready for the falcons. Eagles Injury Update: Jason Peters 50-50; Mychal Kendricks out October 9, 2015, 3:15 pm http://www.csnphilly.com/sites/csnph...?itok=u05FRpoA Tackle Jason Peters (quad) is officially listed as questionable and linebacker Mychal Kendricks (hamstring) has officially been ruled out against the Saints. The Eagles have officially ruled linebacker Mychal Kendricks (hamstring) out for Sunday's game against the Saints (see scouting report). Kendricks tried to play last week, but left the Eagles' loss to the Redskins after the first defensive series. Left tackle Jason Peters (quad), who has said he will play Sunday, is listed as questionable. Peters was active last week, but like Kendricks, left the game early and did not return. Guard Allen Barbre (groin), right tackle Lane Johnson (knee) and cornerback Byron Maxwell (quad) are all listed as probable. Maxwell and Barbre left last week against Washington and did not return. Johnson fought through an MCL sprain because of the injuries to the rest of the offensive line. Defensive ends Taylor Hart and Cedric Thornton, and safety Chris Maragos (quad) are also listed as probable. The return of Thornton and Hart will help bolster the defensive line after the loss of Brandon Bair (groin), who is out against the Saints. Kiko Alonso (knee) is still rehabbing and will be out a few more weeks. Eagles Injury Update: Jason Peters 50-50; Mychal Kendricks out | Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia |

We are going to witness the beginning of history. With death comes rebirth. Irony. Symbolicy. Metaphorism. Truth. All of it will wear # 75 come Sunday*

Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
I may noy have understood the pick but with Armstead down Peat gets his chance at the LT position. I wouldn't be suprized he plays like a stud.

Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
You know SP changes the game plan here
Peat will be getting chips from the running backs all night to ease some of the pressure. Being thrown into the fire worked for Armstead, coaches said Terron couldn't even get into a Lineman stance, now he's our best OL and the best left tackle in the league. |
Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
Ridiculous that we have not been making a first-round pick play football. Don't pick him if he can't play. This is not a farm franchise where a player "gets up to speed."
Unfortunately, it's the line we've got. If Drew can't handle it, play McCown. He was much quicker to abandon the pocket at Carolina and his numbers were solid despite Payton's play calling. |

Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
I get all the anxiety, but I'm excited to see what we have...
High first round pick, we get to see exactly what we have... Know I've taken smack on the board for projecting Peat at LT... But if he shines, it gives the Saints options when approaching the Armstead extension... The worst case scenario, we find out we've played a bust at an overrated position of Left Tackle... Overrated because in our blocking scheme for Brees, it's really more about the guards in the passing game... |
Re: Terron Armstead out! Andrus Peat in!
How did he do?
I have been stuck in hospital since May so have not seen anything this year |

Still not good though, allowed 2 sacks I believe, one where Brees held the ball for what felt like a lifetime so not entirely his fault. Hope you get well soon Lee. |

he wasnt perfect, but better than zach, imho

Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
how did he do?
well, Drew can still walk, somehow, and it looks like he'll have full use of most of his limbs. Also, he can still speak in sentences, surprisingly. its a miracle. he took a beating back there. |
Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
Peat looked good in some situations and a rookie in others. Fletcher Cox is a savvy vet who get the best of Peat on a handful of snaps
The resulting turnovers were more discouraging. |
Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
Right now the play calling has to change. The deep ball is not an option right now with the play of the OL. We need to hit some quick slants with Cooks and Snead and let their legs get the 40 yards. Those 2 sacks and fumbles by Brees was on him holding the ball for 4 seconds. You have to get rid of the ball in 3 seconds or less.

Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
To be honest he looked good considering he's playing Left tackle. One thing I would love to see when armstead and Evans come back is peat starting at right tackle. People have literally been picking on strief all year. If you look at where most of the pressure on Bree's has come from (including when he got injured) it's been the right side.
Part of this is also Payton's fault for not providing enough help for strief. |
Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
Peat at LT is his natural position and he actually did pretty good. The fact he lined up against Cox was huge. I thought if the saints keep it simple he might survive over there. He got killed when the saints did fancy blocking assignments.
we missed Evens more than anything |

Peat looked decent for a rookie starting his first game.
|
Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
Yup, not to bad for a rookie. Ok, now get better.
|
Re: New Orleans Saints rookie tackle Andrus Peat ready to make first start Sunday
Armstead's first few starts he was getting owned. He worked through it and improved. We need to see Peat do the same.
