Random Musings by the Dude

We suck. Flat out. Looks like Juniors "girlfriend" was right after all.

Andrus Peat had a reverse first game from what Armstead had. Peat started out decent but got it handed to him all 2nd half. Our line is patchwork enough as it is, Armstead being gone really showed. We forget even a good Offensive line takes a little time to come together when just ONE player is replaced. Our line has been a revolving door for way to long. Should have kept Grubbs and traded Evans.

Rob Ryan should be fired but our defensive woes are on Payton. Plenty of our early round defensive picks looked to be wasted until they moved on to another team. Jenkins has been solid this year. That is proof that its us, not the players. Payton can blame RR all he wants but at the end of the day Payton is the head coach and should step in if he thinks Rob is that bad. Payton is a one trick pony. Great offensive coordinator but bad head coach. Its like he has told himself that he is so good at offense that he doesnt need to be bothered to learn or coach anything regarding defense.

Brees arm seemed fine, at least before he got man handled all second half.

We suck
That is all

Oh wait and I still have not bothered to commit Peat or Petes spelling to memory. When he does something I will. For now its spelled how I spell it

Also did you hear how many times the announcers said how rare it was for Colston to drop a ball? Even before the injury. What Saints team have they been watching the last 3 years?

They are not even worth the price of admission.

Brees's arm is not fine, he has no zip on the ball.

They all had great suckage today, no one excluded.

John Jenkins is FAR from solid.

Re: Random Musings by the Dude

Peat was playing his first game I'll cut him some slack. I think he can get better because Armstead did after that first game.

But if Payton was a bad HC why did we suck without him during 2012?

Ok Malcom J... with our team looking so bad, I have no time to be concerned about how former players are doing but thanks for pointing that out :bng:.

Snead looked great. Everyone else, no, sucked profusely, even Brees. I kept trying to enjoy the game, even if just for the spirit of being competitive. None of that, it was not competitive. Fumbles, drops, tripping over one another....awful team right now. Awful.

I was stuck at home w/ no Saints football and watching the end of the Chiefs game, Tracy Porter looked pretty good with the Bears. Had a clutch defleciton on third 3rd down to help in the Bears comeback. Maybe we should have picked him up instead of committing to Browner :(.

OK so your QB is not 100%, even still bruised rotator cuff....
OK so the o-line has aged vets on that play about 75% of their potential from a few years ago...
OK so rookies are trying to rotate on your o-line...
OK so the WR talent poole is about 1/2 what it was even a year ago...

THEN Why come up with a gameplan that forces your QB to hold the ball for 10 seconds for a passing play to develop???

Why jeopardize your partially injured QB?
Why allow your o-line to be exploited drive after drive?
Why put your QB in situations where no one is open and he tries to force it!?

If you know your WR won't get separation, why put them in finesse patterns when timing patterns, slants and fades with quick release is what they can accomplish?

I'm completely confused with our game-plan on offense.

Yep..team is effed, season is effed. Some tough changes have got to be coming but at this point, something drastic needs to be done.

Cos Seany baby isn't the only bad coach? The krewe left behind to do the job was also not good.

Me, too. Did y'all know that Ingram has more touches (92) than every player on the offense besides Brees with the next closest KRob with 43?

Think about that. Mark Ingram is the center of our offense now.

With our patch-work NFL o-line and a running back who's claim to fame is running behind Bama's NFL-caliber o-line in college, we sit and wonder why we can't outscore anyone.

OK. I'm willing to admit that the Saints have some room for improvement.

But it's nothing that good coaching can't fix. Sean needs a totally new posse.:pokechop:

Is there any way to quadruple like this?

Re: Random Musings by the Dude

Sean Payton is a great offensive mind. But I think he came up with some great ideas and hasn't really been innovative since. He just keeps trying to plug new guys into these same schemes. Defenses have caught up with this. Hell Malcolm Jenkins was reading his playbook all day. He knew exactly when we were running a screen, when we were running the ball. We are predictable in formation and personnel.

Sean just keeps trying to do the same things over and over but with lesser personnel and/or diminishing skills from key players.

Well you'd be the only one confused. 31 other teams aren't confused at all.:p

Ingram is about to play easier run defenses coming up. Arizona, Carolina, and Philadelphia can stop the run. Dallas, Idk.

Oh, I get it...trust me, I get it. I'm just as confused & frustrated as some others are as to why Ingram is getting double the touches as KRob (92 to 43) and why in the wild-wide-world of sports has Spiller touched the ball only 20 times in 3 games? Reckon C.J. can't grasp the offense?

Ingram also is 2nd in receptions with 24...that is 1 behind Cooks' 25 receptions. That is how bad our receivers & tight ends are at getting open.

This offense is a hot mess. We rack up yards only when we're down 2 or 3 scores in the 4th, it seems. It sure pads them stats, though. Sorry for that, but ain't it kinda sad to keep Brees in there chunking it around 39-10 late in the 4th Quarter when you have Grayson on the sideline to develop for the future? Seems selfish on Payton's & Brees' part to me, but what do I know...

Re: Random Musings by the Dude

Musings? here i thought i was going to chuckle. then Google informed me this was a very misleading word.

Defense is a shell of it's former self. Since Rob arrived he has gutted this defense since year 1. there are a ton of new faces each and every year. This is not baseball were you can go out and buy a title

Trades, free agents and cutting players have all resulted in defensive additions to this team at the expense of the offense.

So honestly if your adding players at the cost of offense so your defense gets better what do you think will happen to the offense?

When you get all these new pieces together over a 3 years period for this upgraded defense how long will it take for those individuals to function as a unit?

If after you give this new defense time to gel and you discover it is not working who is to blame?

Since the New England game in year one of Rob Ryan master minding a defense to bring us back to the promise land. It has been a downward spiral. The Pats will solve Rob and and Rob will not have an answer. But whats the point? I have said this even before that game.

Saint still are in denial. The simple fact is the NFL has bypassed Rob Ryan. They know him like the back of their own hand.

Yet i will sit back and pray a gut check will save this season Thursday night. If not I will sink farther back in my bark-o-lounger and mutter to my self.

"Give this team time to gel." "Give this team time to gel." "Give this team time to gel."

I will wait till Rob is gone or the season ends, and then and only then will I go of the per-verbal deep end. I will try

So once again I am to the point were I am left with no choice but to sit back and see what happens over the course of a season.

"Give this team time to gel." "Give this team time to gel." "Give this team time to gel."

All this talk about Sean losing his creativity. All this talk about Sean being predictable. Some truth to it, but how much of the NFL is trickery and how much is just lining up against the other guy and beating him?

That is a good point. And much of our talent is getting old, many key players have been replaced with lesser players. We are fielding more rookies than any other team. And all this is because we have mismanaged personnel, drafting to some degree and the cap which falls back on our front office and coaches.

Re: Random Musings by the Dude

Its painfully obvious that we are witnessing the fall of Payton's successful run. We are out of salary cap space stuck with dead money, aging vets that are over paid. The talent level is lacking. We need to replace both guards ,tight end , WR on offense. Our defensive line needs upgrades at both tackle and end. We are short a starting outside linebacker and will continue to lose until we develop a pass rush. It is time for a major rebuilding project and it is going to be painful.I say cut the overpaid vets . Get the salary cap under control stockpile draft picks I have been a fan of Sean and Mickey but I am not sure that changes in the front office and coaching staff need to be made . Ownership is facing family trouble and I sure that that has to affect the team negatively. There were big changes made this year and this next offseason is going to crucial to returning this team to the top. The top seems very far away at this time . IMHO the rebuilding needs to start NOW.

^^^^^ THIS. If you can consistently beat the man in front of you, the battle has been won. Almost no trickeration (I know it's not a word) wins at this level.
