I still believe

that if we don't act like quitters we can still salvage this season.

We are not even in trouble yet if we lose to Atlanta. If we beat Indy things can turn around from there.

Re: I still believe

We've already lost four games against NFC opponents... Losing to the Failclowns would make it five. Beating the Colts wouldn't help us one bit. Our chances of even sniffing a wild card spot are 0.

WillSaints81,

I like your attitude but this team is terrible.

We'll have a top 5 pick next draft I believe.

Believing this team will amount to anything this year is the equivalent of believing in santa clause.

Atlanta stumbled a bit against Washington barely beat a bad team at home. Not a lot of optimism but Atlanta can be beat.

The wild card is going to 9-7 at best. Seattle/Arizona get the first, the second is going to Carolina, us, Minnesota, Philadelphia, or St.Louis.

And if we beat Indy, we stand a strong chance at 5-5 going in the bye with a easier stretch after the bye where we could run the table or almost. If we were to just lose to Atlanta, we would be 10-6 in this scenario. I am looking at those second half games what do Houston, Carolina, TB(who we should have beat the first time), Detroit, Jacksonville have better than Philadelphia, Carolina, and Arizona? Stranger things have happened and this is looking like a down year for the NFC.

Were they holding back for us maybe?

Right now I just want to see the team keep fighting every week.

I am disappointed with the season, but I totally get this is year 1 of a rebuild. Hopefully a couple good drafts and some smart free agent signings and the Saints are right back in the hunt real soon.

Re: I still believe

You don't rebuild with a $20 mil a year QB on you roster at the end of his career...dumb decision...Payton thinks he is playing Madden or something...smh

Re: I still believe

With the way we are playing I don't see one team we can beat...yeah....we will get lucky and beat a few teams but we got manhandled by the Bucs and the Eagles...man...I want to cry...

I will always believe and hope. But, the Saints have nobody who can check Julio and Freeman. They are two of the most dynamic players at their position in the NFL. Plus, the Saints have no margin of error on offense. If they turn the ball over, they will lose.

Exactly... need another couple more good drafts to supplement this last one.

Re: I still believe

C'mon we beat the Cow's despite the fact that they have bigger problems than us. Most of our games so far have been competitive except the for the Eagles. Atlanta will be a Dog Fight no one will expect us to win, obviously our motivation will be to hand them their first loss.

Re: I still believe

Philadelphia is not as bad as people think. Also, you have to factor that atmosphere and their fans. And the fact that Jenkins and Sproles were ticked off. I know its hard to fathom, but that's the best rushing attack we will face all year. the colts are soft, they got manhandled by the bills and jets. The giants are soft, they almost lost at home to the 49ERS. The titans all you have to do is RUN THE BALL and throw away from McCourty. The redskins, they are beatable let's just say that. It might not be a blowout but I expect that game to be winnable toward the end. None of these teams are tough like the eagles, cardinals, and panthers(not saying those three are better than all four I mentioned they are not better than colts except cards). I think we play better against soft players. We can't be toughness.

Re: I still believe

Given the overall, objective track record of Sean Payton, it's hard for me to imagine this complete dramatic implosion into a sucking sinkhole, that some people are visualizing.

Based on the past (especially what happened in 2007), I suspect Payton will most likely find some way to claw this team back to semi-mediocrity by the end of the year. He's never been worse than 7-9 as a head coach, and I think as an OC or assistant he has never had a really famously stink-bad season either; I think he might have had ONE year at Philly as an assistant coach where they won like 3 or 4 games, but there's really just not a precedent for THAT MUCH losing in his history. Although there's always a first time, isn't there?

What's far more likely in reality is that we will keep plodding along in mediocrity, win some, lose some, struggling in agony and keeping some dim faint hope alive, at least mathematically on paper, each week it's "we still have a chance," which no one in the room will believe except for Drew at the podium. Where the season becomes a grueling slog, like a 2007 or 2014 type year. We're already seeing those same Drew press conferences we've grown to know and love over the years.

I predict they will claw their way back to near sub-.500, five or six wins, and then the Falcons will wrap the division and be resting their starters in week 16. The Saints will win that game, in a nail biter, and drop anywhere from 3-7 places to the middle of the draft because of the win, and this forum will go absolutely bonkers.

Re: I still believe

I plan on loosing my voice at the Falcons game and the Texans game like normal, that hasn't changed. This year is a transition year but with Brees at QB, hell anything is possible

Re: I still believe

We have little to no chance at a playoff spot but we do need to play spoiler especially to the Falcons and Panthers as we meet.

I want to see a lot of improvement and growth from our young players. I really think there is enough talent on this defense to be monumentally better. I really don't think we are scheming to the talents of the defense. We are still trying to fit pieces into Rob Ryan's concepts. There is no way we should have Browner in the role he is in. His is not a man defender. He's a quarters guy all day long and would thrive in it like he has in the past.

Re: I still believe

Depends on your definition of salvage.

Yep we could salvage the season under MY definition. That would be getting the rookies to gel and show promise for next season, whatever the results.
