Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in other NFL jobs

Re: Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in other NFL jobs
Coaches always say that. I can't think of a single time in NFL history that a coach actually said he was interested in another job during the season.

Re: Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in other NFL jobs
It is not that difficult to piece it all together, if you just pay attention to what people say, and when they've said it, and what they DO as well. It's pretty straightforward. Payton really does not have an interest in other NFL jobs. RIGHT NOW.
Payton tried to put it in his contract, that if Loomis ever got canned, Payton was free to be "I'm outta here" as well. Goodell said NOPE to that. So what's stopping Payton and Loomis from having a friendly gentleman's agreement, behind the scenes, a handshake deal not written on paper, that neither one of them gets the can, unless the other one does too? They are joined at the hip now. At one point in 2011 they literally even owned summer beach houses, right next door to each other on the beach (not 100% sure if they still do, but probably so). Sean Payton is Benson's man, and Benson is Payton's man. This became totally clear during Bountygate, if not earlier. Benson will stick with Payton, pretty much through anything except a dead girl or a live boy. Because of Drew, the Super Bowl, Katrina, ya'll know the drill by now. Therefore Payton is here for as long as Benson is here; the reason for that is because Loomis is also here, as long as Benson is here. Benson has a handshake deal with Payton; Payton has a handshake deal with Loomis; Loomis has a handshake deal with Benson; etc. etc. around and around. |

Coach Payton has not forrgotten how to coach. He needs these players to step up and play better.

Re: Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in other NFL jobs
His girlfriend's maids sisters brother in law said he's not going anywhere.

Re: Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in other NFL jobs
You don't leave a job as the highest paid coach in NFL history or a job that gives you almost total control of the entire program to move further from your children, whom he sees as often as possible, just because you are wanted elsewhere. What is in it for him?

Re: Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in other NFL jobs
What the hell else is he supposed to say. He is basically auditioning for another job if it comes to that. Teams don't hire coaches who openly quit on their teams during the season. Admitting he wants to leave would show that he had already quit in his own mind and is just st going through the motions.

Re: Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in other NFL jobs
Why would he want to leave? I don't see SP going anywhere and I think that is a good thing. Best coach we ever had and likely ever will have.

Well if you read the latest report today you would think different. I'm surprised no one has linked the report.

If we can't get another head coach to come here after Payton to help us, then that's bad. Loomis though, seeing what Payton has done, will probably look for the next HC that will want to take charge of everything like Payton.

Re: Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in other NFL jobs
Coach Payton is a huge part of the problem. Hes a brilliant offensive coordinator but that is it. When your defensive coordinator isnt getting it done a good head coach steps in and takes over. I dont think Payton is good enough with a defense to do this. He basically hires a DC and says "here you deal with it. If we suck its your ass because there is nothing I can do about it". At least part of our salary cap situation is Paytons fault too. A good coach will learn to work withing the cap instead of kicking **** down hill. He tells the GM he wants someone wants loomis to make it happen regardless of the consequences.
I also think Payton has some off the field demons but thats a subject for another thread. Getting out of New Orleans might be the best thing he could do for his own health and well being. |
Re: Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in other NFL jobs
Well duh. It's tampering to mingle with other franchises during the season.

and why would he be. He didn't turn over 60% of the roster to leave before it even gets started.

Re: Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in other NFL jobs
And Nick Saban was not interested in the Alabama job either.
