Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
I notice he didn't explain how having Graham would offset the defense hemorrhaging points and yards!
Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade The Seattle Seahawks are not doing much with Jimmy Graham, and the New Orleans are pathetic without him. Additionally, the Seahawks' offensive line is atrocious, and center Max Unger’s absence is clearly missed based on the 22 sacks Russell Wilson has endured. And why the Seahawks are not getting Graham more involved in the game plan is incredibly baffling. Graham has only 21 receptions for 204 yards and two touchdowns in five weeks. As for the Saints, they are in incredibly poor shape with a terrible 1-4 record. How has trading away Graham, who was Drew Brees’ best offensive weapon, a smart move? We have to believe the Saints would have more than one lousy win if Graham were still in town. Nothing at all makes sense in what was the most shocking, and now seemingly the most botched trade of the free-agency period. Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
We got Max Unger!!!!

Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
Imagine how bad it would be for our O line if Unger wasn't in there.

Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
The main difference with Graham not being "more involved in the game plan" and "not doing much" in Seattle is....Drew Brees. Drew Brees is like a super computer, or Robocop, a Terminator type QB....he can go to the line and scan the defense, read what he sees, process the information, and size up the matchups as favorable or unfavorable. He can literally see things in the upcoming play before they even happen. Wilson simply doesn't have that kind of built-in supercomputer, the ability to process information on the fly. You can't "involve somebody in the game plan" if your quarterback can't read the defense and process the info, to create a favorable situation.

They can claim with a straight face we didn't do well dumping an overpaid guy for a one of the best centers in the league and a first round pick that might be a generation starter for us? I agree losing Jimmy has hurt us offensively but we did well in that trade. I have zero doubt.

Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
We don't have #1 or #2 receiver anymore. All our options are fair to poor. Even if we had a solid OL they would still struggle. All of them can be handled in single coverage most of the time.

Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
The only party that benefitted from the trade was Jimmy Graham.
Ditto if the trade had not occurred. |
Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
What? Hardly any mention of Anthony?

Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
Still too early to tell.

Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
This board is the winner in that trade!!!

Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
Disagree, it is not the meat of the trade, Unger vs Graham, but Tyler Lockett and Anthony. The success of the trade for both teams are these two fellas and I say both came out smellin pretty dang good.

Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
After the fact, hypothetical question:
Would you trade Jimmy Graham to get Stephone Anthony? Second in tackles, 1 sack, 3 PD, and, wait for it, on the field for 97% of all defensive snaps Oh, and we got Unger. |
Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
Jimmy WHO?
I don't miss his DROPS in key drives one bit. |
Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
because Graham would give up on blocking assignments putting our QB at risk. That kind of attitude is contagious and doesnt do anything to help the team, I dont care who you are. We were also able to shave a little bit off the cap. We got the better end of the deal believe me. Unger may not look like much here yet, but he has only played 3 games with an entirely new offensive line. It takes an oline weeks, sometimes a season to gel. Continuity is the MOST important thing at that position. Not only is he new to the fold, having other players who have worked together go down every game doesnt help.
Looks like we may have a little depth at LT. When Peat went down I didnt see much of a drop off. The line should be much better after the bye week. |

B-U-L-L-S-H-*-T
We totally smoked Seattle in that trade... We gave up a bloated contract with a player who already put one foot in retirement (kinda like Major League II (movie) where the players get all civilized)... We got an All-Pro in return and a first round pick which... We got a potential Defensive Rookie of the Year (though our second round pick is probably going to negate each other's chances)... So how the hell that trade didn't work out for us absolutely baffles me... These yardbarker writers need to quit regurgitating other sports hacks and actually watch the games and have a grasp of R-E-A-L-I-T-Y... |
Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
Try watching a Seattle game with a shot glass.
Pour yourself a shot. Drink that shot when Jimmy and blocking are mentioned. Repeat, Guaranteed drunk before the half. |
Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade
Max Unger? I will judge him like so many players on this team, when all players are healthy and have some games under their belt. we have yet to see this so far this year. I am even trying to give Rob the same break.

Re: Nobody is benefiting from the Jimmy Graham trade

The Saints have two starters and the Seahawks are somehow dumbfounded as to how to use Jimmy.

Jimmy had his first 100 yard receiving game with the 'Hawks today. 117 yards, I believe...
