Re: Getting back in the playoff race
Get to 500 and I will entertain it. Right now, no. We are looking better. Still not making up much ground on Panthers and Falcons.

Re: Getting back in the playoff race
Patterson is a bad route runner. Can't get open on regular basis. He won't help us.

ONE week at a time...
We are not the dominant team we once were. And evidently a 27 point lead will not be enough. |

Playoff Race.

Re: Getting back in the playoff race
We are not in the playoff race. However, we just defeated an undefeated division opponent. Next up, we got up 27-0, on an OK team who looked good against the Pats, while we were on the road, while creating 3 turnovers and getting lots of pass rush, and playing balanced on offense ( Pass 266 / Run 183 ). The trajectory we are on right now -- says our stock is rising.
Lots to do though -- we still gave up 376 yards. There are way too many penalties. Receivers and QB still not in sync. And, we need to learn how to finish games. |

Re: Getting back in the playoff race
Beating a 4-3 NFC New York Giant team at home this Sunday when you're 3-4 will help start the playoff talk again.
We need to start piling up NFC wins...oh, and get to .500 first. |
Re: Getting back in the playoff race
nine games remaining...We will definitely be favored in 6, def underdog at ATL, and question mark games will be home to Carolina and @ Wash: 2-3 points + or -
so... we'll be the better team in 7 of the 9 remaining games |
Re: Getting back in the playoff race
well i might be dead wrong here.

Re: Getting back in the playoff race
Wild card is far as I would go. Defense has got to start showing up more often even for that to happen. We could have won 3 SB by now if we could just field an average defense.

Sitting at 4-4 & moving forward, I think we'll need to win at least 6 out of the next 8 and finish 10-6 to make it. The Must-Wins? Considering we are 3-4 in the NFC already, feel like we'll need to be 4-1 against the rest of the NFC schedule to get in and we must take 2 of 3 out of Ten, @ Hou, or Jax. |
Re: Getting back in the playoff race
No excuse not to beat 3 remaining AFC South opponents and the Lions (sorry SloMo).
That's 8 wins. Then we really need 3 out of 4 against Redskins and our 3 NFC South rematches. 10 wins might not be enough this year for a wildcard so 11-5 is the mark. |

Sorry, I don't go any further than Tennessee. One game at a time.
For what it's worth, the Titans D is ranked 5th in the league. It's that offense though ... |
Re: Getting back in the playoff race
Let's hope the players & coaches are looking are taking one game at a time very seriously. We have very little margin for error or let-down from here on out for a shot. Gotta take care of business against Tennessee.

Re: Getting back in the playoff race
The defense has given up 20 plus point leads in back to back games. 20 ****ing points! We cannot count on our offense to keep up with a defense giving up that much. How these last two games hasnt gotten Ryan fired is beyond me. Houston has a great defense and if our O isnt clicking 100% even their ****ty offense will torch us.

His (Caldwell) winning record at Indianapolis was undeniably due to Peyton Manning. Went 2-14 without him. Supposed to be some sort of QB/Offensive guru and both areas have seriously declined since he's been H/C of the Lions. The guy (Caldwell) is a fraud. He's the only Detroit H/C that I can ever remember being handed a team that was not a rebuilding project and could win out the gate, which he did, and then just like in Indianapolis, he's totally demotivated the players and shown he's not capable of leading a team. He's lucky he's in Detroit, where they seem to accept losing at the organizational levels. He'd be a dead-coach-walking anywhere else, IMO. At least Gym Shorts had some fire/personality to him. Caldwell's like a living Fathead wall graphic.. |
Re: Getting back in the playoff race
as much as as i hated opening this thread I have to say that with the 31st ranked defense i hold out little hope.
with that said lets see were we are at the bi week |
Re: Getting back in the playoff race

As far as this 31st ranked defense, a ray of hope is that we have rookies gaining real NFL experience every week (we're seeing that progress & the growing pains), we have a bye week to get more healthy, and we have what looks like the beginning of a "team playing for each other". The latter is dangerous for the rest of the NFC, as those kinds of teams beat teams loaded with talent. After the Philly beatdown, I'll be the 1st to admit I didn't think we had much of a shot for the postseason considering we were 1-4 overall & in the NFC. Long season...it's a marathon. |
Re: Getting back in the playoff race
Looking at the rest of the schedule, we are practically a lock to be 12-4.
