Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro on pace for career high in tackles
 

Third-year Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro is on pace for a career high in tackles in a bounce-back performance from a disappointing 2014.


A day after running his total to 44 stops while making his first sack of the season in New Orleans’ 27-21 victory against Indianapolis, he said the reason for his resurgence was simple: good health.

Although he played in all but the final game a year ago, he said he never felt like he was at full strength.

“The ankle injury I hurt in the last game of my rookie year was a year-and-a-half injury, and I came back in four months,” he said. “That bothered me a little bit throughout the year. And then I had a Grade 2 hamstring tear the first series against Atlanta in Week 1 (in 2014). And then in the middle of the season, I hurt my quad.

I get exactly what he is saying. I have been playing injured or with effects from injuries the season before, a big part of my career and it really puts a dent in your performance.

I was never worried about tackling with Kenny. Pass coverage is my main issue. Kenny is a bit to much of a throw back at SS for today's pass happy NFL IMO. That is the area of his game he needs to improve. Right now he is a shorter version of Browner but with less penlites.

A safety with cover and tackling skills is still on my wish list.

Saints have neither with any of the safeties on this roster

He can cover. He's just better playing man then he is playing zone.

After the injury he was looking pretty lost.
Missing tackles, taking bad angles, even whiffing.
Who was that guy?
Seems to be back in form.
He's always been better zoning and punishing than trying to cover.
He's quick but he's slow.
