New Orleans Saints to sign RB Tim Hightower after injury to Khiry Robinson
 

The New Orleans Saints plan to sign veteran running back Tim Hightower to replace Khiry Robinson, who suffered a season-ending leg injury on Sunday, according to a league source.

Hightower, 29, was the Arizona Cardinals' fifth-round draft pick in 2008 but hasn't played in an NFL game since tearing his ACL on Oct. 23, 2011. He signed with the Saints during the offseason and mounted a comeback attempt in camp.

After making the 53-man roster, Hightower was released one day before the Saints opened the season on Sept. 13 at Arizona. Hightower was already in Phoenix by the time the move was announced and watched the game with Saints coaches in the press box.

Hightower should be able to contribute as much as Robinson.

Agreed. He's a strong runner with a ton of heart. Good replacement for KR. He has the chance to make a comeback and might even catch on with another team if he has a strong season. Maybe even stay in NOLA if the shoe fits.

What better guy would you want on your team? Hard to argue that he won't give this 110%. What better teammate could you want?

Yeah, its a good move. Really a no brainer since he was with us thru training camp and preseason.

I just don't understand why they are avoiding Pierre Thomas. He seems like such a logical candidate to add to the backfield. Maybe I'm missing something.......
