Why Can't We Beat Rookie QB's at Home?

It's starting to become a sure thing. If we're playing at home against a rookie QB when all indications are that we should dominate... We lose. I can't tell you how much this frustrates me. This is a serious problem that I think points to an arrogance we still can't escape no matter how many personnel changes we make.

Most of the fans that can afford the games now are fake like their date's boobs...

We have little to no film on them...

We have had no real pass rush since La'roi Glover, Joe Johnson, etc...

We have a two-headed monster leading the defense - way too confusing for the players...

Did I mention the fake boobs can't make noise like the fans of old could?!?

False. It started with RG3 when Spagnuolo was calling the shots. Also, this is Dennis Allen's defense... Don't fool yourself thinking Rob wants to run this defensive scheme.

this defense has been in a state of disrepair ever since Williams left.

More simply, why can't we play football for 4 quarters at home?

A sophomore slump with players who didn't fit his scheme. But hey, instead of giving him this season to prove himself let's bring in Dennis Allen and force Rob Ryan to run Allen's 4-3 and take the blame if it doesn't work out because Allen is one of Payton's "Yes" men.

i think we need a fresh start and give this defensive coaching staff and enema. We need to go in another direction, Dennis Allen included. Clean sweep and start fresh.

Re: Why Can't We Beat Rookie QB's at Home?

The massive turn over of veterans was a huge mistake. each year it has been a group of vets cut and a step backwards.

thank god we are almost out of any vets with time here left to cut.

So this is year 3 of the defense Rob has built.

How long do we wait for this to turn around?

So that vets to blame as bad eggs well is just about dry.

I am still hanging hope on the injury history.

Been pondering that myself. any ideas?

Re: Why Can't We Beat Rookie QB's at Home?

There isn't going to be any fresh start. Rob Ryan will be fired and Dennis Allen will take over and fans will say "Yay Dennis Allen is the DB whisperer who helped us win the Super Bowl!" Never mind the fact that we're already running Allen's defense and he's really just another one of Payton's "Yes" men.

I think you're giving way too much blame on Allen, he's merely a consultanat and we're running the exact same schemes we've run under Ryan for 3 years now.

Allen hasn't changed one thing... yet.

This particular trend goes back long before Rob Ryan, you're right. But this isn't Dennis Allen's defense. Rob Ryan doesn't have a set defense. That's why the knock has always been on him that his defenses are too confusing for his own team and do the opposite for the opponent as a result. He's been in a lot of places and been fired every time.

Why do you suppose that is? Face it, he's terrible. Any influence Allen has only makes it that much worse. The guy had a terrible defense when he was with Denver and somehow got hired as the Raiders head coach because, well... They're the Raiders. The whole defensive staff is stale.

I appreciate what you had to say Burningmetal. That's exactly how I'm looking at the situation and probably not expressing myself rationally in the emotion of the moment. I agree 100% with your take.

I hear you, man. It is quite difficult to contain the frustration for me as well. Felt the schedule was set on a tee for us, and we blew it.

Re: Why Can't We Beat Rookie QB's at Home?

We don't have a defensive scheme....that's the problem. At this point I don't care who is the DC....until we get players for a particular scheme we will continue to suck.
