MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
I been saying this for some time now...
It doesn't matter if you can score 40 points a game if the other team is allowed to score 41 points a game. This was the best example when you should be able to beat a team like this. You come out and looked good except for a couple of crazy plays that kept them in the game. We have gone to a run and shoot offense because our line sucks they can't run effectively against anyone and when game is on the line they get blown up and get to Brees. We can't mount a pass rush to save our lives... we have been exposed early this season and the flaws are evident to everyone and we can't fix them now. Come on off season... it can't get here fast enough. |
Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
I had the pleasure of watching this one from the Club section.
My thoughts: The Saints played with no passion at all. The defense was walking slowly back to line and could someone on that defense try to get angry?. I noticed a few times when a CB would avoid a collision to tackle (no names mentioned). The Titans were punching the O-Line in the mouth and hitting Drew late on purpose. The O-Line didn't respond to that and looked scared. The Saints were more talented but the Titans were definitely bullies. And at $11/beer I had to watch it sober. :chug: |
Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
Oh they have passion... they came out with excitement and passion.
The problem is that we have no talent on the line or on D. There is passion but no talent. No coaching of the D on how to use the players or motivate them. The LB's I saw them break down to make a tackle and them move aside and let the ball carrier go #57. |
Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
Talent is not the issue. Greg Williams had one of the least talented Defenses in 2010 but got us to #4 because of coaching and scheme. We have the worst defensive coaching staff I have seen this decade from all nfl teams.
Also, watched the game from 142 row 15 and ill say the Defense doesn't seem to have that fire... I saw cam up trying to fire people and Allen constantly trying to coach the dbs but not much fire in this team... |

Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
This game exposed our coaching staff in all 3 phases.
Sad, too. The Titans had an interim HC on his 1st week on the job midway through the season with a rookie QB running the 28th ranked offense. Let's not forget that when we went up 28-20, we gave them the ball at the 43 yard line on the kick off return where they went down and tied it up 28-28...or our botched FG with a minute left. In a span of 5 minutes, Greg McMahon's Special Teams gives their offense 57 yards to tie it up, then in the final minute he doesn't have his Special Teams in place in time and the Titans partially block the go-ahead FG with a minute left...thanks, Greg McMahon, for all you do for this team. |

Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
The Saints are just not a good team. Good teams don't lose games like that one. At home. When it matters. Against a lesser opponent. And after next week they'll be 5-5 and still alive. And we will still hope until there is no more hope. Saints fan 101.

Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
I prefer "LOST" to "LOSS" in the title.
Pretty fitting description of our much loved and often extremely confusing Saints organization. |
Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
just wait until they lose to the Jags, some people are going to have their knives hidden on them
|
Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
How was this confusing? Our team has been crap. The only reason we won 3 in a row is because our offense played well. Our defense gave up back to back 20 point leads. It is unreasonable for anyone to expect an offense to keep up with that kind of deficit. The Titans have a great defense, good enough to slow us down enough for their ****ty offense to torch our even ****tier defense. You cannot expect a team to spot other teams 20 points and still win. We are as bad as the Titans are. We are exactly that kind of football team this year. Good offense, bad special teams and horrible defense with just not enough experience.
Enjoy the season for what it is but I dont see how anyone can be surprised about a loss. We are just that damn bad. |

We didn't just suck on defense, we also only scored 7 points in the second half. That's not some ho-hum thing to dismiss. We didn't blow the lead against the Colts. We lead the whole game, and they got two lucky touchdowns on us. We actually looked good on defense other than two plays in that game. That's why people had higher expectations than what we're seeing now. By the way, no one is SURPRISED by this. People are angry because they're sick of constantly losing these kinds of games. We ARE better than the Titans, but this organization doesn't get up for the little guys. |

Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
It happens at least twice a year where this team is looking good the first half and then just sleep walks and thinks their reputation will win in the second half only to lose to inferior opponents. Which is odd because this team hasn't done a thing to even have that kind of mindset.
While I'm angry about the lose its not really a surprise |

There used to be a time when Payton was called one of the best at half time adjustments, all he does now is take his foot off the pedal and lets teams embarrass us. |
Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
Not surprised at all.
We would have played the Packers better. Struggling team with an interim coach and QB back from where ever and at home. Couldn't get it done. That's this team. Nobody stepped up when we needed it. Nobody made a play when we needed it. We need play makers on both sides of the ball. |
Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
Payton just might have lost this team. We won't know until next season under a new DC and we have played about this number of games.

Re: MOST FRUSTRATING LOST of the Season.
The Titans game was an outlier. We were Ann Hodges and the Titans were the meteorite.
How often will Drew be sacked 4+ times and throws a RZ pick, ball bounces perfectly for walker to take it 60+ yards, muffed punt return, untimely penalties that end up being points, missed 40 yard field goal, w run for a total of 59 yards. Our run game will get right against Washington. Their run D is historically bad. They are the Violet Jessup of run defenses. New coordinator, injuries, guys playing poorly. Go check out their PFF grades. -6s and -8s all over that defensive front. 2 WC are coming out of the NFC South and we are going to be one of them. The Vikings are frauds. Falcons are crashing and their losing streak will continue. |

When our offense is on, we are better off just letting the other team go ahead and score. That being said there were a lot of freak things that went in the Titans favor in order for them to win that game. |
