There was a time when he was on-fire at Green Bay and the most sought after NFL QB free-agent. He never worked out at other teams. Maybe he'll find a home here. It's exciting to have him back, but I seriously hope we have no need for him!!

You are right. He filled in nicely for Rodgers and didnt miss a beat really. Maybe he just needs the right offense.

It's about time they signed him. I've been waiting for years for the Saints to bring him in as the backup. He may not be the starter that a lot of people once thought he could be, but as a backup he's about as good as you can get.

People are always making fun of him every time another team signs him, and I never get why. He's a backup. There's a reason teams have those. It's understood they aren't starters but you gotta have somebody in case of injury. Flynn is a guy who, unlike most backups, gives you a competitive chance.

We saw how bad the drop off was for the Cardinals when they lost Carson Palmer... Carson freaking Palmer, of all people. As average as he is, the difference between he and his backups wasn't just night and day, it was more like the sun and the north pole.

Eh, this just shows our rookie is not even close to ready to be a backup for goodness sake. I like Flynn but would rather see our newbee there.

Our newbee is supposedly the QB of the future. Flynn is just the backup. Grayson won't benefit from being thrown in the fire while he's nowhere near ready, in my opinion.

Back in the day he was a solid LB. We have no depth at the position right now.

This was long overdue. I was cheering on LSU in 2007 along with my gamecocks.

I have to point out though he never had a chance in Seattle and could not save the mess in Oakland. When he went back to GB he took a few weeks to get in a rhythym before getting on track in Dallas. I think he could have been a good starter for the right team.

Flynn=bandaid. IMHO, it will take him weeks to learn the offense.

I agree but the point I was making is our backup QB has not left the bench in 42 years. Is GG really that bad to where even the thought of him coming in scares SP?

Was unaware of the back injury to McCown, I thought Payton was in extreme denial about his kicker and Special Teams Coach lacking in ability and blamed McCown...

Well, if he was not scared why would he pick up Flynn? This is the first year he carried 3 qb's on the active roster in a long time. GG has been in the system and Flynn has not so you would figured he would have a leg up. So why is he still 3rd string?

Because we lost a veteran QB to injury. Payton has always liked veteran back-ups while a young one develops.

He can't place Grayson on the practice squad so he's decided to go with a 3rd QB.

Where did you hear Grayson was 3rd string? I think Grayson may even be active against the Redskins, and Flynn inactive.

You guys read way too much into every move that you know virtually nothing about.

Flynn may be had experience in green bay as holder? he were so good anywhere else buy he got his signing bonus when he left GB he.had a chance to be a Delhomme in the making but the teams o-line ruined that chance.

I think due to inexperience it's fair to say Grayson will be behind Flynn. Maybe not this week, as Flynn JUST got here, but I think we all saw how far away Grayson was from being ready all training camp. Flynn was signed because of McCown's injury, yes, but probably also will get more reps as the backup than Grayson will.

If Drew should get hurt, I can't imagine Payton wants to throw Grayson to the wolves, especially with as poorly as we are pass protecting.
